LETTER FROM KONSTANDINA KARAKATSANI

Accused in the Conspiracy Cells of Fire case 

On 4-2-2011 I appeared in court after being called by the judge in order for me to develop with my presence the demand that for quite some time now I've submitted, a few days postponement of the trial. My appearance in the court gave the spark for some vulture-journalists to throw their mud, saying even that i I disagree with the demands that have been placed, creating and promoting thus an image of a climate of division. In the frames of faithful service to the governmental interests some of the Media as the trial day approached proportionally laid out the climate sharpening the knives of the court with open challenges to it, sucj as “now justice will show us if it is terrorised by imposing heavy sentences to the defendants” etc. 

This was continued with the beginning of the trial where they began to show extracts always adapted to a practice of libel and accompanied by propagandistic comments, while they also mentioned the tragic “escape operation” that obviously no one believes, they simply said it in order to overstress that there are reasons for the conduct of the trial in the prison and in order to justify our non transport to a regular room, something that would resolve all the problems. 

The climax came yesterday (4/2/11) where they used my own attitude for the creation of an image of a “divided front of the defendants” with an obvious target the devaluation of the hunger strike that my co-defendants have begun. First of all let it become clear that no matter what the state says, which speaks to us through the news reports and the internet, I never expressed myself against the demands. I simply believe that the root of evil is the legislation about special conditions of trial in its entirety. 

Even though this letter is primarily a drop of counter-information in the ocean of misinformation I cannot omit certain other important things. It should also be known that I never said in court that I accept to be tried in absence. Despite that whether I agree, or I disagree, I participate or not in the hunger strike, any choice of struggle of prisoners is respectable by me. My presence in court in no way means that I adopt the attitude of the judges that insistingly deny to accept the demands the moment 4 of my codefendants have gone on hunger strike. 

Also my presence signals my refusal to grant to the state the privilege to have a trial without lawyers and defendants, therefore without another side, something that means that they will easily impose the totalitarianism of their speeches and their decisions. I do not want this court to be turned into a cemetery that will bury in it the refusal of the charges, will bury my speech, my political substance, my dispute with those who either played a constructional role regarding the charges, or those gave false testimonies, the choice of clandestinity that I took, not recognizing any prosecution and no charges, and naturally will bury my cry against the persecutors and my accusers, who because they simply “suspected” did not hesitated together to imprison me. 

But these are the signs of our times. The season of the economic bloodsucking of society, the systemic crisis, the season where governmental savagery is accentuated and shielded. The season of 30 and more political prisoners.

Coach company promises not to transport fascists ever again Last year Corporate Watch revealed that one of the coach companies used to transport English Defence League (EDL) scum to rallies in Bradford and Leicester was Andrew's of Tideswell (see  http://www.corporatewatch.org.uk/?lid=3833). The company has since been targeted by anti-fascist activists, who apparently slashed the tires of eight of its coaches and vowed that "this will not be the last such action" (see  http://325.nostate.net/?tag=andrews-of-tideswell-buses). Corporate Watch has subsequently received an email claiming to be from the company, although the email address ( aot2011@hotmail.co.uk) does not appear to be its official one. In the email, the "family-run, non-political company" claim they were not aware they were carrying EDL supporters and that they will not be carrying "any passengers to protests in the future." My name is Leandro Sebastian Morel, I am being held in Unidad 7 in the province of Chaco (northern Argentina), about 1,200 km. from Buenos Aires. For almost a year I have been transferred here from the prison Marcoz Paz (Province of Buenos Aires). I have been a hostage since 2006 for the attack on the manufacturer Ideas del Sur, owned by M. Tinelli.
In these lines I want to express my concern, due to having become aware of actions carried out and claimed with my name, by a Brigade* that claims responsibility for attacks and bombings, one of which resulted in the death of a garbage collector. Well beyond the specific case and possible affinities or differences, for obvious reasons I am drawing attention to the fact that such actions are being claimed using the name of a person who is currently detained in prison.
Friends and comrades, who in one way or another are close to me, are very familiar with my situation and the way I have chosen to face these years of sequestration. Anyone wanting to find out about my situation can do so, given that the material is in distribution. In the past year, following my transfer to a prison subjected to a military regime 1,200 km. from those close to me, I have gained points on my conduct, fundamental for advancing my level and finally able to access less harsh regimes of imprisonment.
Therefore, I find it hard to believe that these people are interested in supporting me in any way. I want to make my opinion known and have my concern shared among all comrades, friends and all those who are in prison.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - Two youths, aged 16 and 17, shot dead by police for "trying to loot" derailed train

Two youths, aged 16 and 17, were killed and several people were injured, including two who are in serious condition after a shootout between police and adolescents in emergency neighborhood José León Suárez,in the San Martin Buenos Aires district of Buenos Aires, after the derailment of a freight train.
Official sources operating in the area reported that the incident occurred in the railway Mitre, TBA, at the height of a settlement known as "Villa La Cárcova" where the train derailed for reasons that could not be established.
According to spokesmen said the clash occurred when police officers arrived at the scene of the derailment and deployed an operation to evict a large group of youths who were allegedly "trying to loot" the convoy, traveling full of auto parts.
In the armed clash between police and young people a 17-year was killed, as confirmed by the commissioner 4 th of the area. Later a second death, of a boy aged 17, was confirmed.
According to the newspaper The Nation, the victims were identified as Frank Almiron, 16, and Mauricio Ramos, 17.
Moreover, according to the commissioner, there are two serious injuries, 18 and 19 years who were admitted to the hospital Belgrano, San Martín.
Buenos Aires Police, who declined to give official information about what happened, let it be known that the operation was deployed after a call to 911, for an alleged attempt to plunder the train, derailed due to action of the protesters.
Given the tragic consequences of the repression, residents of several 'villas de emergenci' of San Martín gathered at the 4th police station of José León Suárez, Juan Martín de Rosas and Echagüe, and staged a protest to demand justice.
The demonstration was held just after 20, with burning tires and cutting traffic by families who went to dump the 'Ecological Coordinator Metropolitan State Society (CEAMSE) to seek food and reusable waste.

Information about the 6 arrested alleged "terrorists"

On Tuesday 7th of December 2010 the first 2 of the 6 arrested allegedly part of a "terrorist organization" were imprisoned.

Alexandros Mitrousias was sent to Patras prisons and Kostas Sakkas to the prisons of Navplio.

THE WEAPONS FOUND IN AGRINIO WERE ALSO FOUND TO BE "CLEAN" AFTER EXTENSIVE BALLISTICS EXAMINATION.

As it appears, the efforts of the anti-terrorist police to connect the guns that were found in the possession of A. Mitrousias and K.Sakkas, and those that were found in the house in Agrinio, with terrorist attacks and specifically with actions of the Sect of Revolutionaries were fruitless. Specifically, the ballistic examination showed that the guns that were found in a"safehouse" on the corner of Daskalopoulou and Praidou street have not been used in any terrorist action.

THE OTHER FOUR OF THE ARRESTED ALLEGEDLY PART OF A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION ARE IMPRISONED FACING 4 FELONIES AND 2 DELINQUENCIES BASED ON THE ANTI-TERRORIST LAWS

The imprisoned are Stella Antoniou, Dimitris Michail, Christos Politis and Giorgos Karagiannidis who, after the completion of their pleas before the interrogator and the public prosecutor are confronted with charges concerning "offences" of constitution and integration in a "terrorist organisation", "terrorist organisation", "terrorist actions", "possession and manufacturing of explosives" and "aggravated case of gun possession".

All that remains is to see what attitude the alleged terrorists will maintain.

Panayiotis Giannou was arrested on October 7 for "possession of an incendiary device," a charge that in the past has sometimes landed people in pre-trial detention, and sometimes not. History is also very ambiguous when camping gas canisters are involved. One more arrest for the 'Conspiracy of Cells of Fire' case On January 26th Michalis Nikolopoulos was arrested in Kifissia (northern Athens), accused in the case of Conspiracy of Cells of Fire. On January 28th he was taken to the Evelpidon Courts where a solidarity gathering was also held. GIANNIS DIMITRAKIS TRIAL UPDATE

SENTENCED ANNOUNCED

Today the final sentence was announced at the Court of Appeal for comrade Giannis Dimitrakis. The sentence after the fusions is 12,5 years of imprisonment (less than the 35 years he got at the first trial).

All together he was found guilty of the robbery in the National Bank on Solonos str, (7 years imprisonment), guilty of psychological support in the attempted homicide of the bank guard (6 years imprisonment), guilty of participating in a gang (4 years imprisonment), guilty of using a gun (2 years imprisonment). He did not get any mitigation (Giannis was shot and severly injured by cops outside the bank) with but with the fusion of the sentences the final sentence is 12.5 years. The sentence he still has to serve in prison is 3/5ths of the total, so Giannis still has 7.5 years to do. He has already served almost 5 years.

The room was full of supporters, that burst out in slogans and clapping after the announcement of the decision. The presence of the cops was discreet without EKAM (Greek special forces) and masked ones as at previous trials. The speeches and points made by the defence lawyers were remarkable and they didn't speak of a "victory" of course but of a "proportional sentence that corresponds to the charges"

The comrade was led again to prison with his fists raised and in the next days he is expected to be sent to Domokos prison from the prisons of Koridallos where he was held temporarily for the trial.

Nikos Maziotis, Panagiota "Pola" Roupa, Kostas Gournas, Vaggelis Stathopoulos, Sarandos Nikitopoulos, and Christoforos Kortesis. All were known for their long presence in the anarchist/anti-authoritarian movement. Two weeks later, Nikos Maziotis, Pola Roupa, and Kostas Gournas admitted to participating in the organization known as Revolutionary Struggle (Epanastatikos Agonas). On 13/1/2011 comrades Fessas, Tsilianidis, Tzifkas and Dimtsiadis who were wanted since 13/10/2010 for the Skouloudis case are arrested in Athens and accused of forming and participating in a criminal organization. On 4/12/2010 Anarchist squat Nadir is raided in the framework of the methodical repression before the 6th of December. 9 people are arrested inside Nadir and 3 people in the centre of Thessaloniki . They are charged with occupying a building, possession of weapons (some flags that are used at protests etc.), running an illegal radio station as well as forming a criminal organization. Three comrades are still imprisoned, two in Avlona prisons and one in Diavata prisons.

He was walking in the centre of Thessaloniki on the night of December 6th 2009. He was arrested on a charge of gang organization and possession of molotov cocktails. On December 13th, 2010 in Edessa he was on trial with no evidence, 2 cops for witnesses and was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months imprisonment.

A society that punishes/the condition of incarceration/the prison of the mind/the prison as punishment/the rage of the damned will sound on the ruins of prisons/those denying obedience and misery of our era even within its hellholes/will dance together on the ruins of every last prison/with the flame of rebellion avenging whatever creates prisons.

The night of Friday, January 29, 3 stun bombs were placed inside the enclosure of the forces of power, in the prefecture of the Carabineros of downtown Puerto Montt.

On the night of January 30 we attacked this reality once again, its defenders and its false critics.
Once again we smashed the windows of the ATM between Jonte and Segurola, in the Monte Castro barrio (the one on the side of the hospital) with stones. This time we had more time for destruction, because there were no members of society around.
We only intended to break the ATM's windows, but we realized that we could have set it on fire, so next time we'll take some gasoline with us.
To all those who move their ass for the cause of freedom without fear of the police and their followers.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DEFENDANTS IN THE CASE OF THE R.O. CONSPIRACY CELLS OF FIRE

We announce that today Thursday 3/2/2011 we escalate our mobilization and from abstention from prison food we are going on hunger strike until the achievement of our aim which is to not record and withhold the information of those who want to watch our trial so that we can return finally to it with the lawyers of our initial choice. Our tenacious position in our demand is the armouring of our character. As we declared from the first moment we do not ask, we demand they do not register all those, comrades or relatives and friends, interested in being near us the moment we are tried. The recognition of their contribution in the essential significance of solidarity and support cannot but oblige us to rise to the occasion. Thus we deny make our trial, with our consent and our participation in the procedure, a landmark for the foundation of tomorrow's prosecutions of comrades-fighters and revolutionaries. We do not tolerate the attack that the movement of solidarity receives neither the attempted isolation of political prisoners in trials-court martials. Either the regime of terrorism and registering of those want to attend the trial in solidarity will end, or you will judge the chairs and the microphones.

Moreover our case is such that while some of us face the definite condemnation from the court since we have publicly and openly taken the responsibility for our participation in the organization, the rest however face the danger of a long sentence and hence the continuation of the hostage regime that they have imposed on us, in the frames of exactly what we stress: the penalization of the wider friendly-family and comrade relations.

We therefore place our bodies in the ordeal of hunger strike knowing that it is a hard and difficult struggle of endurance with not having a lot of space for movement and action, being locked up and limited behind walls. Considering that the character of our trial is such that these measures are adopted in an attempt to terrorize the people in solidarity, we conclude that it is not a matter that concerns purely us but the all imminent trials of such character that will follow. We know that we are not alone in this struggle. We thank therefore in advance those who express their solidarity by all means to our case.
