Korkoneas receives life sentence plus 15 months; Saraliotis receives 10 years and asks for suspension to his sentence

Grigoropoulos trial nears end from the greek media...
Eight months after the trial began, Zoe Konstantopoulou, the lawyer representing the Grigoropoulos family, called for both Epaminondas Korkoneas, the policeman who pulled the trigger, and Vassilis Saraliotis, who was on duty with him, to be found guilty of murder. Konstantopoulou argued that neither man had shown the necessary remorse for their part in the teenager’s death, which sparked days of protests and rioting in Athens. She said that, instead, they had displayed “cynicism” about their roles on the night of December 6, 2008.
Saraliotis insists that he has no regrets about his actions on the night of the shooting but Konstantopoulou claimed that he had provided “moral support” to Korkoneas, who fired the shot that killed the boy. The lawyer also accused Korkoneas of shooting directly at the group of people among whom the 15-year-old was standing. Korkoneas says that he fired after coming under attack from several thrown objects and had not aimed at Grigoropoulos or anyone else. Ballistic tests have shown that the bullet that killed the schoolboy ricocheted off a cement bollard. Witnesses have suggested the Korkoneas shot at the crowd rather than into the air or down at the ground.
The victim’s lawyer also insisted that the teenager was a normal 15-year-old who had no intention of playing the rebel, nor was he the member of any anarchist group.

The trial of the murderers of Alexandros Grigoropoulos is drawing to a close
The trial of the murderers of Alexandros Grigoropoulos (special police forces Epaminondas Korkoneas and Vasilis Saraliotis) in the remote town of Amfissa is now drawing to a close, with the court testimonies of the two accused – who have been released, it is reminded, since June 6 (as the maximum, 18-month period allowed for their pre-trial detention was reached). We will be reporting on the sentencing of the two here. For all the other developments running and even if these two cops are some of the smallest tools of the machine – still, for the days we lived in December, and for Alexandros, we want to see them pay. No justice, no peace.

Teen killer tells court he is sorry from the kathimerini greek media...
Epaminondas Korkoneas, the policeman charged with the murder of teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos in December 2008, yesterday expressed his sorrow at the boy’s death during testimony before a court in Amfissa, central Greece.
On his first day of testimony, Korkoneas said he and his colleague, Vassilis Saraliotis, who has been charged as an accomplice, had come under attack from a group of youths three times on December 6, 2008. Korkoneas admitted to firing his gun two or three times as a warning to scare off the youths but said he did not realize that he had shot anyone until he heard about the teenager’s death a few hours later.
According to court sources, the special guard sobbed while addressing the court. “Both of us are victims. He is dead and I wish I were dead,” Korkoneas said. “I can’t believe someone is dead because of me,” he added. Korkoneas and Saraliotis received conditional release in June after 18 months in custody.

Thursday, February 25, 2010 Tension between mother and Grigoropoulos Al.Kougia today in the trial and strange speech of the President

Posted by iteanet
On the tension and dialogue that read below except the trivial incident by Kuge, we found a much bigger problem.
The problem is that the president shows strange available to the mother of the murdered, so instead of throwing tons and finish with it, quick to defend Kuge katakrinontas the same for other unrelated events ....! letters to the composition of the Court and its efforts to become the trial in Athens.
The reference to these events as classes against the mother of the victim and even without a rise causing concern.
Read on:
Intensity occurred in Gross Jury Amfissa, the trial for the murder Grigoropoulos when the mother of 15 year-old child, Gina Tsalikian, called the attorney of main accused Ep.Korkonea, Alexis Kougias, "ethical assassin" of the child. Mr. Kougias left the courtroom.
Just ahead of tabling his mother, Mr. Kougias told the court that he intends to ask questions to Mr Tsalikian "as a minimum tribute to the memory of Alexander.
Mrs Tsalikian submitted to the personality of the child, which-as stated-was not aggressive, but also learned that what happened on the evening of December 6, 2008 at the intersection of Tzavella and Messolongi in Exarchia, when Alexander Grigoropoulos fell dead, struck in the chest by a bullet of the Guard.
The witness referred to what has been said to her son after his death, on the part of defendants special guards.
- Tz.Tsalikian: "Never sykofantithike someone so much as my child after the murder of these killers.
- Chairman (Papavasiliou Angelis): "Please come up to the decision, the defendants do not have the status of the killer.
- Tz.Tsalikian: "And I will call moral murderer of my child Mr. Kuge.
At this point, the counsel of Epaminondas Korkonea making no comment, left the room.
- Chairman: "out of order, Ms. Tsalikian ask you to recall.
- Tz.Tsalikian: Has served (pp Mr. Kougias) a host of slander against my child. "
- Chairman: "And some press, allegedly signed authorization from you, were not content to honorary membership of the court. Treat challenging the court, before giving eloquent. I have to consider why moral sycophant? Treat us as you consider the outset.
- Tz.Tsalikian: "I want a law court.
- Chairman: 'We respect you indefinitely. There is full moral support and respect for what you did. God be with watchmen, not live anything like that. "
- Tz.Tsalikian: "My child is dead ...».
- Chairman: "I am not saying not to defend the memory of your child, not personified but ...».
- Tz.Tsalikian: "The court you are alive, my child is dead ...».
- Chairman: "That what? Have to slander?.
- Tz.Tsalikian: "I must protect myself for my child."
The prosecutor office, Charalambos Lakafosis, the witness said that respect for the court to the loss of her child is granted, but, as stated in the sympathy-her face "will give way to my obligation to defend my position in this court . The court is in fact alive and be sure that the piece would be an expression of an impartial justice even parelthontikes reports and walks on the 4th floor of the Hall of Alexandras Avenue (pp Areopagus). Expressions of type 'moral killer], I ask you, do not leave your mouth.
Early in the morning presented 18 year old witnessed the incident in Exarchia, which, inter alia, stated that hearing officers to lead by word and gesture of collected in street children.
As presented the witness, Alexander and his friend were sitting in a hangar on the road Tzavella and nobody threw anything against the police. He said that at some point, when the two special guards were pedestrians in Tzavella, someone behind him threw a plastic bottle with water.
Finally, testified that he heard two shots, but to see who shot. He, indeed, that he realized it was gunfire when he saw fallen under Alexander.

19/2/10 TRIAL NEWS FOR ALEXIS MARDERES!

--------------------------------------
By examining the coroner Christos Lefkidi from the defense, resumed before the Joint Amfissa Certified Court, the proceedings of the special guards and Epaminondas Korkonea ...

Basil Saralioti, accused of the death of Alexander Grigoropoulos.
With the start of the process has been tension in response to a request made by the counsel Education Policy Christos Milonopoulos to revoke a previous decision of the court did not accept the consent of about 25 witnesses from the list provided by the victim's family, as not notified in time.
Mr. Milonopoulos, pleaded areopagitiki decision according to which the disclosure of the list of witnesses is once valid cases deferred, as in this case.

Grigoropoulos killing
Trial to restart on February 17
The trial of the two COPSKILLERS charged with involvement in the fatal shooting of teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos in December 2008 – suspended last week after the public prosecutor withdrew from the case due to the death of a relative – is to start from scratch on February 17. Court of first instance prosecutor Haralambos Lakafosis has been appointed to replace Vassiliki Vlachou. The trial of Epaminondas Korkoneas and Vassilis Saraliotis is to start again in Amfissa, some 200 kilometers northwest of Athens, with the testimony of the dead teenager’s mother Gina Tsalikian.
Saturday, January 23, 2010

| Grigoropoulos trial under way The two policemen accused of involvement in the December 2008 shooting of teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos, whose death sparked widespread rioting, yesterday denied murder, as the boy’s mother accused the pair of treating her son like a “cockroach.” “I do not accept liability for anyone’s death,” said special guard Epaminondas Korkoneas, accused of shooting at Grigoropoulos following a verbal exchange in the central Athens neighborhood of Exarchia. “I would have stepped forward to shield anyone, including those kids. It was the outcome of a difficult moment.” Korkoneas’s lawyers are arguing that he fired a warning shot after a group of youths had thrown objects at him and his partner Vassilis Saraliotis. Korkoneas will argue that the bullet ricocheted before striking Grigoropoulos. Saraliotis denies any involvement, despite accusations that he encouraged Korkoneas, 39, to shoot. “I do not accept I intended to be involved in his death,” said Saraliotis, 33 . “I have nothing to do with my colleague’s action. I am certain that I am innocent and I plan to prove it.” The trial was due to start Wednesday but was delayed for 48 hours as Grigoropoulos’s mother, Gina Tsalikian, could not attend. She was in court yesterday and accused the two special guards of murdering her son. “They started swearing at the kids and telling them to leave: ‘Get out of here,’ said the policeman; ‘Why? What are you going to do to me?’ replied Alexis, at which point he got out his gun and shot him,” said Tsalikian. “They saw a child fall to the ground dead and just left. They went back to their headquarters and did not say they had shot a child. It was like they had killed a little mouse. These people valued the life of my son as much as a cockroach’s.” Tsalikian said that Alexis and a friend had unwittingly found themselves between a group of anarchists and the two officers after the policemen used a stun grenade, prompting the two youngsters to go and see what was going on. “He was a quiet, reserved boy loved by everyone,” said Tsalikian. “He trusted the police and they shot him.” Korkoneas’s lawyer, Alexis Kougias, asked the court to investigate whether Grigoropoulos had been involved in crowd trouble at a water polo match just hours before he was killed. The trial is due to resume next Friday. 29/1/10 | ||

The trial of the Greek Cop who shot dead a 15-year-old boy in Athens has now started. The BBC has attempted to report on it, but the article is a disg
The BBC has attempted to report on the trial but the article (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8473857.stm) is full of lies. Malcolm Brabant, who is the BBC's correspondent in Greece, is well known for fabricating stories to suit the needs of the Greek government, the EU, and Western Capitalism as a whole. He is also known for covering the Balkan conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, equally irresponsibly. It is not surprising to most of us following Greek events that his reporting would twist reality. The article starts with the following statement:
"The mother of Alexandros Grigoropoulos - the Greek schoolboy shot dead in 2008 - has called the policeman who fired the fatal bullet a "monster"."
This is not true. During the trial, the Mother of Alexandros called the policeman who fired the bullet and his partner, who is also on trial as his accomplice, "murderers". Not "monsters". A "monster" is not a legal term and would not be useful in court. There is a difference. Calling the defendant a "monster" would imply lack of respect, which is not the case.
We then move on to this: "to deter attacks by anarchist groups which have vowed to kill the two defendants"
No anarchist group has ever vowed to kill the two defendants. I would very much like to see Malcolm Brabant's sources for this statement. The marches and riots are not only carried out by anarchists. There are several different ideologies involved, and it is not even limited to the leftists. Several people who were not previously politically active have joined the protests, without alligning themselves with any leftist or anarchist group.
"Speaking at the trial in her first public comments since the shooting, Mrs Tsalikian said both defendants were "monsters in the guise of men"."
Absolutely not. As mentioned before, she merely called them "murderers", while crying and hardly being able to speak, while describing how she was informed of her son's death.
"The key forensic evidence will be the ballistic tests on the bullet, says the BBC's Greece correspondent Malcolm Brabant."
What is not mentioned here however is that there are several forensic reports in existence. The initial report, by a highly regarder professor, who was hired by the Cop, is now "burried" as the professor found that the Cop aimed directly at the boy and no ricocheting took place.
What is also not mentioned is that in several of the disturbingly many police murders, "ricocheting bullets" are the most commonly used excuse. This has been the subject of many ironic cartoons depicting police officers and bullets ricocheting in 100 different locations before killing someone. It seems like there must be a "ricocheting bullet epidemic" in Greece at the moment..
"These should indicate whether the bullet ricocheted off a building or parking bollard in the street where Alexandros Grigoropoulos fell."
"The boy's family have been hurt by accusations made shortly after his death that Alexandros was a troublemaker."
Well, this simply fails to take into account that implying your murdered son was some kind of troublemaker who somehow "deserved" this fate, is just shockingly rude and painful to a mother who lost her son in yet another state murder.
"The restricted number of access roads into Amfissa has given the authorities a chance to prevent large numbers of potential rioters from getting through."
There was no intention or plans for violent protests in Amfissa. Anarchists had visited the town before the trial to give out leaflets informing people of their views on the trial and to reassure the locals that there is absolutely no threat against them. This was done peacefully and the locals showed interest. On the first day of the trial, 400 "visitors" arrived in Amfissa from other Greek towns, both anarchists and not, who arranged two peaceful marches around Amfissa. One was based in the center of the town, while the other headed for the local prison, where the marchers voiced their solidarity to the prisoners and the prisoners chanted solidarity slogans back. There were only very minor incidents with the police, when the march tried to go down a blocked road, but these quickly ended and the march continued peacefully.
"But shopkeepers in the town have pulled down the shutters in fear that they will bear the brunt of anti-establishment wrath."
This is an utter lie. Only two banks and a hotel had been barricaded, the hotel owner being simply paranoid and the banks probably not wanting to risk it. "Anti-establishment wrath" is NEVER against the people. Small stores, like the ones mostly found in small towns are never harmed by any "anti-establishment" actions. These are often harmed, on the other hand, by right-wing organizations and neo-nazis, who aim to create a climate of fear and blame the attacks on "anarchists". The shop owners have started realizing who their enemy is. They are no longer buying into the bullshit that "anarchists" will turn against them. They offered their solidarity to the march and all stores remained open. After the end of the marches, the people involved mixed with the locals and hung out in local cafes and bars. Some report that they were invited by several shopkeepers to drink traditional Tsipouro with them, an act of hospitality in Greece. Again, for Malcolm Brabant to note down for his next bunch of lies: The shopkeepers are NOT afraid of "anarchists" or any "anti-establishment wrath".
Do not trust state controlled media. Keep informed. The trial continues...

Amfissa.
A witness will also be asked to submit the minor student whose hands Alexis died.
The testimony will be crucial as it was when the next shot.
Concern is the fact, according to family spokesman Andrew Constantine, that the presiding judge said that he would judge the
case only Tuesday and Friday.
Speaking at Newsit, said that thus the attendance of witnesses by the defense is difficult, impossible.
The same concern expressed by Ms Tsalikian which indicated that not such a serious trial to break into pieces as it must itself
be near her mother. "
The state continues to prurient in memory of Alexis, empaizontas parents and eliminating the last flakes dikaiosynis.Mipos to

On January 20 will be in Amfissa the trial of the Guard and Epaminondas Korkonea Saralioti Claus. The special guards

As anarchists we do not care for the award of "justice" by the state will not require the agencies to impose penalties in other
organs. As in all cases ( 'light' or 'heavy' penalties) vindicated the statism.
Moreover, the case of "justice" in the hands of officials and the "discretion" (political expediency) of power. In this respect it
is also irrelevant to any outcome of any trial, if and when made.
We care about the political exploitation of the dead 16-year Grigoropoulos Alexander, nor the upcoming trial of two special
guards. These reasonable to leave in any authoritarian cliques, trying to benefit from such situations.
What interests us is that the result of this fact a part of society rose and clashed, sought and seek effective ways of freedom
and justice over the power structures or any substitutes. This, we believe that it is an essential step that denies democratic or
undemocratic practices and reasonable and can affect key authoritarian conditions. And this is another significant legacy to
the holistic path to anarchy.
Photo Courts - Square Amfissa

Since I happen to have descended from Tinh town, there are 2 landings which conclude and 2 stin main square and therefore the courts and a town with little or no rimotomia, with many up and down and generally a closed city. Since I have no contact with inexperienced cops, talk about 400 and wants attention because if you shut the world from the cops there will be no escape routes and generally will be so bad. Much attention to those who will go!

Letter of those arrested this year in December from the barracks of central police station thesaloniki
At the moment of writing we are at the detention centre of Thessaloniki Police Headquarters where we have been kept in
custody for the tenth consecutive day, the three of a total of seven remanded (three have been transferred to juvenile prisons in
aulona and one to prison Diavata). We were arrested during the sad one-year anniversary of the murder of fifteen-year Alexis
Grigoropoulos. We would like to say a short time after they arrested and EMPRISONED us.
The police conducted "preventative" arrests because of our presence in theory in "dangerous" places (e.g. universities)
because of our participation in a planned demonstration or because of our outward appearance!
The behaviour of our police officers has been grossly insulting and even some of them used the camera of their mobile
phones to record and then make public the audio-visual material on the internet to humiliate us. Also, psychological violence was
added with threats to our physical integrity.
When we were taken to Thessaloniki Police Headquarters, indictment and psychological pressure was applied. We were
refused the right to contact our lawyers and they refused to allow us to provide first aid to one of those arrested who had suffered
savage beatings.
In all cases constructed charges claiming "evidence of unknown persons", we were picked up and taken away by the
police, to punish us and to convince the public that the police “are doing their job”. The above method is common practice for the
construction of indictment, as is shown in a published amateur video clearly showing a cop to be putting a Molotov cocktail
backpack and a former co-defendant was acquitted by the consent of the investigator and prosecutor thanks to this visual
material. The immediate identification of fingerprints to prove and to demolish the framed indictment holding Molotov cocktail
and become once more the dear regular police.
One of those arrested was attacked and brutally beaten by two platoons of MAT riot police (!) because of his presence at
the university and his outside appearance, thus needed immediate medical care that he was not given. At the time of the forensic
examination demonstrating the beating, was added new charges of expenses to be charged and others to be punished.
The conditions of detention in the barracks of the Police Hall of Thessaloniki blatantly violate basic human rights. Keep
from December 6 until December 19 now in detention centres without authorization ….
Please note that there are prisoners in custody in detention centres who have already spent their fifth month of detention,
conditions in detention without absolute right to have the absolute minimum (… information from media, direct medical care,
personal hygiene items ). In cells with no toilets, so coverage of our natural needs in communal toilets depending on the goodwill
of the police, but when not forced to go using bottles and bags.
The sanitary conditions in communal toilets are poor because of the large number of detainees, inadequate cleanliness and
lack of infrastructure and maintenance (one toilet accounted for twenty people, cisterns and taps off, etc.). Ventilation and
heating of premises are non-existent, humidity and lack of light worsen nightmarish all this leading to danger every day our
health (communicable diseases, hepatitis, infections, common flu, viral diseases, I1N1). It has made no preventive measures (e.g.
vaccination or medical examination) to confront I1N1 given the coexistence of large numbers of prisoners in cramped conditions.
According to testimonies of prisoners that held a hunger strike to improve living conditions in detention centres (and add a
fruit salad to the daily diet, right to walk 15 minutes in the hallway, personal hygiene, etc.). These tragic circumstances not only
threaten our health and contribute to the development of aggressive behaviour and depression among prisoners.
There are long-term prisoners with health problems and drug addicts who can not with these conditions in the detention
centres to provide adequate medical care and psychological support. We were eyewitnesses to drug addicts imprisoned and
transferred urgently to hospital for first aid only when the situation came to be critical to life. Witnesses also reported a
disproportionate number of suicide attempts among detainees.
Finally, we want to raise that in our first statement before the magistrate and the prosecutor that of our defence witnesses
has not been submitted. Despite the release of amateur video from the media which acquitted… our co-defendants, indicating the
arrangements for construction of Police guilty, but not the perception of our judicial authorities.
As part of today's democracy is it necessary to shoot the end we all move to show that we are not elephants?
… today who enjoy democracy … intimidation and terror in the exercise of the … constitutionally guaranteed right to participate
in a demonstration?
As part of today's democracy it is a solution to arrest and create "scapegoats" in response to acute social problems;
Requires improvement HOLDING CONDITIONS OF PRISONERS
COMPLAINANT ANY FORM OF VIOLENCE wherever they come from
We condemn the orderly CONSTRUCTION EFFORT GUILTY
We condemn the morality EFFORT, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC U.S. EXONTOSIS
It requires the immediate release of U.S.

The politicians and the prime minister, do not attempt to save the country, but steal as much money as they can ! they're ripping us apart.. the financial problem is all over us. So what is going on in greece ? We just do not stand here silent. We only desire a better future...
