5/5/2011 athens. The public prosecutor has asked for Simos to be aquitted of the charges, saying that there is no evidence connecting him to the robberies.

The judges have yet to announce their decision.
update now..
The judges decided that he is innocent for the bank robberies and acquitted him of those charges,
but he remains imprisoned because he still is accused of attempted homicide of the cop that shot him in the back which led to the amputation of his leg!!!
WHO ARE THE REAL ROBBERS AND MURDERERS?
COPS, PIGS, MURDERERS!!
FREEDOM NOW! TO ANARCHIST SIMOS SEISIDIS!

12/4/2011 UPDATE ON SIMOS TRIAL

The trial of fighter Simos Seisidis continued today with the examining of witnesses (3 or 4 men including the security guard of the bank where the robbery took place, a cop and 2 women) none of them recognized Simos and their testimonies were ridiculous and not based on their initial testimonies.. many contradictions that caused anger even to the prosecutors and judges...
the trial will continue 18/4/2011

WE SHALL ALL BE THERE!
SIMO HOLD STRONG UNTIL FREEDOM!

UPDATE ON SIMOS TRIAL
Simos Seisidis trial continued last tuesday with the testimony of defence witnesses.
Simos, an anarchist, is accused of 7 robberies and 2 attempted homicides. In the antipode of prosecution witnesses that did not have that much to say, beyond “I do not know, I did not see” and “I was pressed by the Service”, the defence witnesses had many things to testify, so much about the targeting of Seisidis, because of his dynamic participation in social struggles, as well as for the set up by the media and the repression mechanisms official charges and their repercussions. Repercussions that were proved disastrous in this case, since Seisidis, despite the complete absence genuine facts that support his prosecution, was persecuted, had a bounty put on his head, was shot in the back from a cop and suffered the amputation of his right leg. He still remains inprisoned, deprived of suitable medical care and exposed to a further aggravation of his health. Indicative of this unacceptable

30/3/11 UPDATE FROM THE APPEALS COURT ATHENS OF ANARCHIST SIMOS SEISIDIS

About 50 comrades, and friends, gathered in solidarity, most outside the court room (they didn’t let them in claiming there were no seats).

Mostly today there were demands from the defence, concerning transport (handcuffed etc), and the masked armed cops in the court room. The cops chased some comrades down to Alexandras av. They definitely beat one comrade, it started when family members and comrades of Simos were attacked with no reason by the cops.

The trial began around 9. 30 comrades were in the court room as well as 30 outside. The defence witnesses are 47. Last time 17 testified. Today two more. The second witness describes the shooter as a very tall guy, skinny with long hair and a ponytail and said clearly that it was not Aris Sirinidis. Another witness, a foreign national with no known address is not appearing in court and the defence of Aris insisted that his testimony is read in the room. In his testimony he describes a guy tall like a basketball player with long hair.

Worth mentioning is also that the court wanted to examine a cop-witness that has had pre-interrogative duties. Aris defence immediately produced a document-decision of the supreme court stating this is illegal. After an agreement of the judge and the prosecutor, the cop will testify as a person with special knowledge, (on the mask with the d.n.a.), and not as person with pre-interrogative duties.
The theatre will continue on April 11th

FREEDOM NOW FOR SIMOS SEISIDIS INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

FREEDOM NOW FOR SIMOS SEISIDIS
INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

On the 30/3/2011 the trial for the case of “the robbers in black” will take place in the first degree, regarding the January 2006 National bank robbery on Solonos st., central Athens, and six more bank robberies. It is the same case for which Yiannis Dimitrakis was finally sentenced, in the second degree, to 12,5 years of imprisonment. This time Simos Seisidis, who had been a fugitive for 4,5 years, is in the place of the accused.

Simos was arrested on the 3/5/2010, after a coincidental and unfortunate run-in with a police patrol. As he was a fugitive, Simos did not stop to be controlled and, in the pursuit that followed, was shot from behind, resulting in his life being endangered and, finally, in the amputation of his right leg, due to the severity of the injury. Despite all this, a case has been brought against him also for this incident, with Simos being charged of attempted homicide against the cop who shot him in the back, having first taken cover behind a car! He is in pre-trial detention also for this case, as the inquisitor wanted to bring it to a close in haste, not even waiting for the report from the medical coroner on the amputated limb. The report was finally delivered AFTER A NINE MONTH DELAY, FULLY CONFIRMING OUR STATEMENTS.

Simos became a fugitive after an arrest warrant was issued against him (and against his brother Marios Seisidis and the comrade Marios Tsironis, who are still wanted), following the bank robbery during which Yiannis Dimitrakis was arrested. Without any substantial evidence against them and due to the criminalization of their personal and comradely relationships, the three comrades were forced to flee, not expecting, and justly so, any justice by civil justice, the repressive mechanisms, and the terror-spouting puppets on the news. None of the three aforementioned powers contradicted them: the first sentenced them in absentia to 7,5 years of imprisonment for misdemeanors concerning the seven bank robberies, recently rejecting Simos' right to appeal. The second, after placing the astronomical amount of 600.000 euro on their heads, finally tried to kill him. And the last, with their police leaks and “terror” articles all these years, paved the way for the bullet that finally found its target...

The comrade is also facing the charge of seizure of weaponry, based solely on DNA evidence (which was found in a different area from where the incident took place, but that's fine print if you are an anarchist and indeed a wanted one). Recently, prosecutions based on DNA are...fashionable with the Greek authorities, who have in this way found an easy way to incriminate people, granted that the genetic material of each and everyone of us can be found or transported anywhere at any given moment. With another older case still pending, for which he could have easily been acquitted if not a fugitive (after all he was recently acquitted from yet another frame-up against him), Simos finds himself in prison sentenced for two cases and in pre-trial detention for another three cases, in total. The essence of the case does not lie however in its legal-juridical side, although we consider a short description of the situation as necessary, in order for the comrades inside and outside of Greece to have a clear as possible picture of the intensity and size of the attempt from the side of the state to annihilate this particular comrade. We want the solidarity to his person, in face of his court on the 30/3, to be matching in its intensity and size.

In the last two years in Greece, the empire strikes back. In fear of the social explosions that might erupt due to the intensity of the economic crisis, it is trying to eliminate the factor, who through the diffusion of political consciousness during the explosion, could transform it into a revolution: the anarchist/anti-authoritarian milieu. In attempting this, democracy has lost the last even facade of democraticness. Protesters are beaten with unbelievable fierceness, anarchist spaces are labeled as safe-houses, people are led to prison accused of participating in … unnamed and unknown armed groups, others are accused of being “terrorists”, because they were walking down a road or were drinking a coffee. But unfortunately for those in power, were they repress one focus of resistance, another ten spring up...

They are trying to transform social struggles into a harmless and pointless activity, through the use of fear and repression. It is up to us to throw that fear back into their face. They are trying, through the paradigmatic annihilation of those in struggle who find themselves in their clutches, to deter the rest from choosing to struggle and resist, and to render the imprisoned comrades into ghosts, still remembered by only a few friends and relatives... It is up to us to not forget our comrades. It is up to us to take them back.

WE WILL NOT ALLOW SIMOS SEISIDIS' ANNIHILATION. Not because he is “innocent”. Nor because he was brutally “punished” by the repressive mechanisms. BUT BECAUSE HE IS A FIGHTER.
WE DEMAND HIS IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Not out of “democratic sensitivity”. Nor out of humanism.

BUT BECAUSE HE IS A COMRADE.
WE CALL ON THOSE IN STRUGGLE, TO COMRADES INTERNATIONALLY, TO JOIN THEIR VOICES WITH OURS IN FACE OF THE TRIAL ON THE 30/3/2011. Not out of pity. Nor out of duty. But because we are anarchists.
AND SOLIDARITY IS OUR WEAPON

Comrades in solidarity

news for simos seisidis trial athens......FIRST DAY 19 NOV.

As was expected, since you have to cope with commissioned judges that follow commands from up above, the application of cancellation of the first court that charged Simos in absent for the delinquencies of 7 different robberies, was rejected.
Simos didn’t appear in the process because it was attempted again to transport him with the special prison-van with the internal cage, that is literally as if you are transported in a box. Repeatedly prisoners have asked to abolish this way of transfer. His lawyer asked for a postponement, producing also the relative doctors documents. Of course, it was rejected.
The trial proceeded normally. During it, the presiding judge constantly mentioned “this you will say on Wednesday”, substantially making it obvious that the decision was predetermined, since if the cancellation became acceptable, there would not be a trial on Wednesday!
Despite it became acceptable that the application was within the time limit, considering the situation of Simos during his hospitalisation did not allow any… dealing with urban justice, was rejected because the call that was made at… town hall of Vironas area, was legal since he himself was a fugitive and the authorities did not know where he lives(!).
Commonly bullshit…
The substance of this case, why that is he was a fugitive, and which was developed extensively so much by the witnesses, as by the lawyer, went unnoticed. As it also went unnoticed that in reality he has already been condemned for 7 robberies. Naturally, since it is a fully class justice, that considers that proletarians that deny the role of a slave of the system, should be exterminated… And anyway, if something is fugitive here, it is common sense, the indication of innocence and real justice…
When the decision was announced, the comrades that were in the room, severely heckled the judges, which withdrew immediately. On Wednesday the 24th , on the sixth floor, room 120 D, at 9.00 am, it will be attempted again to cancel the original court, or else the court of appeals will happen.

Update on Simos Seisidis situation

29/10/10
Ten days ago Simos put on his artificial leg (c-leg) which was bought for 37.000 euro with the contribution of the whole movement. It takes a few months until he learns how to use it perfectly.
The court case of the shooting has closed. The prosecutor was in a hurry to get rid of it... She didnt even wait for the coroners report on the amputated leg that was ordered FIVE MONTHS AGO and is delayed for an “unknown” reason (not at all unknown, we already know it...)
On the 19th and 24th of November are two trials for the same case: the seven robberies in the case of “the robbers in black”. He was sentenced for that to 7,5 years without showing up to court during the time he was outlawed. He was sentenced even for what GIANNIS DIMITRAKIS WAS FOUND INNOCENT OF. On the 19th is the trial to cancel the first trial, and on the 24th is the appeals court (if the canceling is not excepted).

Information about the solidarity concert for Simos on sept. 26th

The 8.000 individuals that participated in the concert of solidarity to Simos Seisidis, that happened on the 26/9 in Petroupoli, gave a loud answer to the  scare of terrorism, the police savagery and the persecutory fury against Simos, a unique “presence” of solidarity. The hundreds comrades, mainly from the anarchist but also the far left movement, who worked non stop for the success of the concert, even if some people had disagreements with the character, proved that we can accomplish a lot  with unity, comradeship and introversion. The clean income of the concert is 39.000 Euros, which will be disposed mainly for legal expenses (Simos until now faces six different prosecutions), for his expenses in prison and for the dealing of medical matters in the near future (the sum for the purchase and the placement of the artificial member has been paid off). The fight against the lame official charges, the persecutory vengeance and the mission to exterminate of Simos Seisidis continues!

UPDATE ON SIMOS SEISIDIS SITUATION

1/10/10
TRIAL POSTPONED
His application for release in the case of his shooting by the cop, which has turned into... attempted homicide from Simos, was denied a few days ago. The thought of the prosecutor that Simos in “saint pauls” (koridallos prisons hospital) enjoys all the necessary attention he needs (this is where we laugh...), and because of the other cases on his back, he is considered to dangerous to be released...
The judicial and police authorities denied to comply as they should have to the demand of Simos Seisidis for a human and dignified transfer to the courts today. Simos demanded his transfer to be made with a normal cop car because of his health situation, and to not helping hem any of the cops to get out from the cop car! while the authorities insisted they used a special cop van with a small metal cage inside it. The prosecutor at evelpidon court showed good intentions to allow Simos demand, but was stopped by the pereus prosecutor and the management of koridallos prisons. Around of couple of comrades anarchists for solidarity! wos there all morning to see Simos bad next time..

On Friday 1 / 10 at 9.00,ALL! THERE !!TO THE  courts where the road passes Cadets comrade SIMOS SEISIDIS

FOR SIMOS SEISIDIS

Tomorrow at 9 am comrade Simos will be taken through the magistrate's Cadets (building 10) to answer charges in a case involving the seizure of arms from the guard Kedikoglou. The only indication of involvement of the comrade is, according to their persecutors, a ... hair in a cap bearing the dna evidence.
After targeting him, they shot him and condemned him to a permanent disability [the amputation of a leg], and are continuing to seek every means to destroy him, even turning the hair into a ... rope. We are sure that the continued expansion of the file of Seisidis is an attempt to intimidate fighters, and respond as follows: State terror did not prevent over 8,000 people attending a concert in solidarity with Simos Seisidis. Definitely not terrorized, then, those who stand stand committed beside him, let alone Simo himself.
Against the indictments, in solidarity with our comrade we will all BE THERE.

news for comrade simos seisidis 05/7

They have moved comrade Simos Seisidis to St. Paul hospital...

Half an hour ago comrade Simos Seisidis was discharged from the neurology department of Evangelismos hospital that kept him last week, and was taken to the prison hospital in Korydallos Athens.

In the middle of the week his lawyers had filed an application for his release - remember that he is in custody for a recent shooting incident when he was arrested and charged with attempted murder ...

The trial for the case of the abduction of arms from the police guard Kedikoglou has been postponed to September.

Visits of comrades to the hospitals about Simos Seisidis

On thursday 31st of June, a group of comrades visited the medical staff of "Euaggelismos" where fighter Simos Seisidis is being kept, heavily guarded. The reason of this visit is the constant threat of his transfer to Korridalos prisons. Simos, with a recently amputated leg that requires a longterm re-establishment for the addition of an artificial leg. His transfer to prison and especially the so-called prison "hospital" (saint pauls) not only makes the re-establishment of his leg impossible but it also brings serious danger for his health situation. He must be tranferred to a re-establishment center where he will get the necessary medical attention and not to the slaughter house of "Saint Pauls". We spoke with the doctors in charge and we also went outside the guarded room where he is being held trying to communicate with him. There was a very intense arguement with the police guards and especially with the cop that was in charge and who was very aggressive even against his own colleagues that showed some compation. In the end, we didnt manage to see him although we are sure he realised we were there. We did not want to continue the argument with the guard out of respect to the hospital and we left.

Today (july 2nd), there was a similiar visit to the medical staff of K.A.T. where his operations took place. We spoke with the doctors and showed that we will not allow the states methods against the comrade to pass

Update on comrade Simos Seisidis. 24/6 athens

Yesterday, the doctors of "Euaggelismos" hospital (orthopeadic department) discharged comrade Simos, assuming that he is now fine and can be transferred to

prison!!! The fact that his recovery is not completed, and ofcourse that the prosthetic leg needs a long time to be fit and even longer for someone to learn how

to use, doesnt seem to intimidate these worhty agents and slaves of the "anti-terrorist" police.
They gave no attention to the continious pressures from the family, his lawyer, and also their colleagues that were stressing how important it is, and obvious, that he must stay in the hospital. For now he remains in "euaggelismos" thanks to a few good doctors of the hospital (from another department), who went and kicked up a fuss, but its very possible they might move him one of these days.
As for the cops and the justice ministry, to solve the problem as they think, have booked him for Koridallos prison hospital, from ...Malandrinou (new high security prisons) that they wanted to send him originally, believing that this way the demand to be hospitalised is being satisfied. Saint pauls hospital... good joke but we know better ones..
On thursday, his lawyer will apply for his release, while monday he will appear before the persecutor regarding the case of snatching the weapon of the guard Kedikoglou, an accusation that is solely based on a supposed identification with an ilegally taken d.n.a. sample (a stray hair)...
Theres been alot of jokes being said. But we dont laugh, or forget, or abandon...

"It will allow the slow..elimination of Simos Seisidis?

In the communication about the conditions of detention and treatment of the prisoner Simos Seisidi eleven people (academics, doctors, lawyers, journalists, editors) denounce conditions which "are characterized by arbitrary government, police brutality and unethical medical practice".

The following text refers to a prisoner who was wanted for robbery, Simos Seisidis, his arrest, detention and treatment.

We believe that medical organizations, democratic movements and human rights, political organizations and collectives should now take a position on the issue, because the case of Simos Seisidi (prisoner and patient with no rights whatsoever) condenses the most odious forms of state repression and subjugation of medical function on its purpose.

First question: Can a suspect be shot in cold blood?

Simos Seisidis on May 3, 2010, has been seen by police in the area of Petralona. When reasonably he tried to flee, he was shot in cold blood by police on foot, so that the incoming bullet pierced the leg from the back of the foot, leaving by the front and destroying the main artery. It is significant that the testimony of the police that made the arrest in no way warned Seisidis but implemented the command to shoot (on foot!) who is suspected of escaping arrest.

The questions: Where and in which circumstances can an escape suspect be shot? By what criterion targeting the arrest of the suspect outweighs the protection of life of every able-bodied man? It is possible (albeit theoretically) for the legal system in this country not to have presumption of innocence and for a suspect to be awarded capital punishment, sentence of death or permanent disability? What else were the police are waiting to understand after relentlessly beating up the blood-staine, faint Seisidi, which caused multiple fractures to his ribs , and then threatened his life?

Problem 2: In what could bring the police arbitrariness?

The police, therefore, unnecessarily shoot Simo Seisidis and then batter him. But that does not stop them. A fully armed invasion of the ICU of KAT hospital and then hospitalized in special cell, family visits prohibited and exclusively hospital nurses to provide the necessary care; any correspondence or telephone calls refused, and even the existence of television or radio in the hospitalized cell.· They harass the patient, screaming on the bed, up and photographing him with mobile phones when he is being washed by the nursing staff:
Friday, May 28, when foot of Simos Seisidis amputated, police were inside the operating theatre!

The questions: What reasons require all these measures other than the quite obvious one that aims to humiliate and kill Simos Seisidis psychologically and emotionally ? There is no institutional body in this country that is willing to review police cannibalism? Finally, the fact that Seisidis was wanted for the robbery may be an inhibitory factor for any institution, organization or party to deal with the case?

Question 3: Can police be doctors?

Eventually, Simos Seisidis suffered amputation of the leg, because, according to the attending doctors, he ran imminent risk of his life. Attaching omission or negligence to the personnel of the First Orthopaedic Clinic of CAT, particularly against the Director of Clinical of unethical behavior in terms of tolerance of the massive police presence, which may burden the healing progress of the patient and necessarily incurred (now the responsibility of the ICU of Evangelismos) further full recovery.

The questions: Can doctors not accept a private nurse (like all prisoner patients); doctors is it not unreasonable to accept the presence of police within the ICU, even in the operating room? It is ridiculous the doctor in the ICU of Evangelismos stating "we are not responsible for the presence of police officers in the Unit? Finally, is medicine simply the execution and administration of drugs or organization of the full recovery of the patient's health? Is the doctor who respects his degree and oath , who believes that isolation, ... and the presence of armed police literally on the patient leave treatment ineffective? Finally, is there a "medical humanism" or do we all the time obey the rules of the free market and freedom of repression?

Demand: to withdraw immediately the police from inside the ICU of the Annunciation; to abolish isolation Seisidi Simos, have regular visiting hours, a special nurse, correspondence, and when returning to the room have radio, television and telephone communication, uninterrupted recovery of the patient and the time in hospital not interrupted by transfer to prison. Furthermore, health status and the whole situation until now by the authorities not to impose his detention and, if obtained evidence against the referral to trial.

We call upon: scientific and medical associations, each sensitive social and political body to denounce this shameful situation that not only is killing Simos Seisidi but degrades any sense of democracy and humanity.

News update for comrade Simos Seisidis

Those who attended the gathering in solidarity to comrade Simos Seisidis found themselves faced with all departments of the Police yesterday afternoon as "Evaggelismos hospital" became more of a police show rather than a hospital.
Comrades shouting slogans of solidarity are surrounded by many squads of MAT riot police before they even reached the main gate of the hospital, and their demand to speak with the director of the hospital or a representative is not satisfied
According to media reports, before and during a solidarity demonstration for S. Seisidis more arrests and controls were made.
Meanwhile, the Initiative for Prisoners' Rights, in a statement entitled "The rights of Simos Seisidis are no less than others", calls the doctors responsible for his life to do this properly and to do what is required by medical ethics, unaffected, as required, by police terrorist scenarios and suggestions.
Notes that Seisidis still needs blood and in the three hospitals where they looking for it (Hippocrates, CAT and Evangelism) every sort of police force (blue, green, black, unmarked but still) is paraded, making difficult or canceling all medical and psychological support for our comrade.
Finally, it states that the 33 year old man is "under permanent police terrorism, and close relatives who are constantly visiting undergo humiliating inspections and violations.
Permanent cops guard the room, prohibiting even radio and television and other forms of communication. At the same time, with impunity, they send pictures via sms of Simon during intimate moments of his physical needs and medical care. ".......................... A.K.M.

ATHENS, Greece, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Greek officials say they are offering a reward of $887,000 for information leading to the arrest of the "robbers in black."

Michalis Chrysochoidis, the newly appointed citizens' protection minister, told reporters Tuesday the robbers, identified as brothers Simeon and Marios Seisidis and Grigoris Tsironis, are wanted not only for a 2006 bank robbery but for possible links to anarchist groups accused of domestic terrorism, the Athens newspaper Kathimerini reported.

The reward offer comes days after Chrysochoidis called for the reopening of the investigation of the November 17 anarchist group, some of whose suspected have been serving long jail sentences since it was broken up in 2002, the newspaper said. The government says domestic terror groups in Greece are making a comeback.

Sources told Kathimerini forensic evidence has linked one of the "robbers in black" with a 2007 attack on a former judge's private guard and to a later shooting at an Athens police station claimed by the group Revolutionary Struggle.

#305 | Imprisoned Greek anarchist loses his leg

FROM THE GREEK STREETS BLOG.

Simos Seisidis is an anarchist arrested on May 3d by police in Athens. Simos has had a price on his head for a long time, accused of being a member of the so-called “robbers in black” (oi listes me ta maura) who were, allegedly, a group to which imprisoned anarchist Yiannis Dimitrakis also belonged to.

During his arrest on May 4th, Simos was shot in the leg by police and injured heavily; he was also beaten badly on the spot. Since that day Simos has been detained in a room-converted-cell in the KAT hospital in Athens. His conditions of detentions are horrific – as described by his family, comrades and groups such as the Network for Social and Political Rights (which has issued a statement, see here, in Greek): there is a complete ban on TV, radio and phone communication for him; the only person allowed to visit him in his room is his mother; police are constantly guarding his room, abusing him, photographing him with their mobile phones while he is bathed by the nursing staff; the list is endless.

On Friday, May 28th it was announced that his health condition worsened rapidly and that Simos had an emergency operation and had his leg amputated. He is now in a stable and relatively good (that is, non-life threatening condition); his horrific conditions of detention remain. BROTHER SIMOS YOU ARE NOT ALONE! THEY GOING TO PAY FOR THAT!!

FIRE TO ALL PRISONS

A society that punishes/the condition of incarceration/the prison of the mind/the prison as punishment/the rage of the damned will sound on the ruins of prisons/those denying obedience and misery of our era even within its hellholes/will dance together on the ruins of every last prison/with the flame of rebellion avenging whatever creates prisons.

To the prisoners struggle already counting one dead and thousands in hunger strike across greece, we stand in solidarity and anger until the destruction of every last prison.
