5/5/2011 athens. The public prosecutor has asked for Simos to be aquitted of the charges, saying that there is no evidence connecting him to the robberies.

The judges have yet to announce their decision.
update now..
The judges decided that he is innocent for the bank robberies and acquitted him of those charges,
but he remains imprisoned because he still is accused of attempted homicide of the cop that shot him in the back which led to the amputation of his leg!!!
WHO ARE THE REAL ROBBERS AND MURDERERS?
COPS, PIGS, MURDERERS!!
FREEDOM NOW! TO ANARCHIST SIMOS SEISIDIS!

12/4/2011 UPDATE ON SIMOS TRIAL

The trial of fighter Simos Seisidis continued today with the examining of witnesses (3 or 4 men including the security guard of the bank where the robbery took place, a cop and 2 women) none of them recognized Simos and their testimonies were ridiculous and not based on their initial testimonies.. many contradictions that caused anger even to the prosecutors and judges...
the trial will continue 18/4/2011

WE SHALL ALL BE THERE!
SIMO HOLD STRONG UNTIL FREEDOM!

UPDATE ON SIMOS TRIAL
Simos Seisidis trial continued last tuesday with the testimony of defence witnesses.
Simos, an anarchist, is accused of 7 robberies and 2 attempted homicides. In the antipode of prosecution witnesses that did not have that much to say, beyond “I do not know, I did not see” and “I was pressed by the Service”, the defence witnesses had many things to testify, so much about the targeting of Seisidis, because of his dynamic participation in social struggles, as well as for the set up by the media and the repression mechanisms official charges and their repercussions. Repercussions that were proved disastrous in this case, since Seisidis, despite the complete absence genuine facts that support his prosecution, was persecuted, had a bounty put on his head, was shot in the back from a cop and suffered the amputation of his right leg. He still remains inprisoned, deprived of suitable medical care and exposed to a further aggravation of his health. Indicative of this unacceptable

30/3/11 UPDATE FROM THE APPEALS COURT ATHENS OF ANARCHIST SIMOS SEISIDIS

About 50 comrades, and friends, gathered in solidarity, most outside the court room (they didn’t let them in claiming there were no seats).

Mostly today there were demands from the defence, concerning transport (handcuffed etc), and the masked armed cops in the court room. The cops chased some comrades down to Alexandras av. They definitely beat one comrade, it started when family members and comrades of Simos were attacked with no reason by the cops.

The trial began around 9. 30 comrades were in the court room as well as 30 outside. The defence witnesses are 47. Last time 17 testified. Today two more. The second witness describes the shooter as a very tall guy, skinny with long hair and a ponytail and said clearly that it was not Aris Sirinidis. Another witness, a foreign national with no known address is not appearing in court and the defence of Aris insisted that his testimony is read in the room. In his testimony he describes a guy tall like a basketball player with long hair.

Worth mentioning is also that the court wanted to examine a cop-witness that has had pre-interrogative duties. Aris defence immediately produced a document-decision of the supreme court stating this is illegal. After an agreement of the judge and the prosecutor, the cop will testify as a person with special knowledge, (on the mask with the d.n.a.), and not as person with pre-interrogative duties.
The theatre will continue on April 11th

Seattle: Banner Drop and Disruption in Solidarity with Greek Anarchist Simos Seisidis

from :http://pugetsoundanarchists.org/

Today in Seattle in solidarity with Simos Seisidis--on the day his trial begins and the day of international solidarity with him--a group of anarchists dropped a banner off the roof of a shopping center and strung another across the street. The rooftop banner read, "Total Freedom for Greek Anarchist Simos Seisidis. Anyone who defends a bank is either a fool or a cop!" The other read, "Not out of pity nor out of duty but because we are anarchists solidarity is our weapon" Flares and smoke bombs were thrown into the intersection to disrupt rush hour traffic and over twelve-hundred leafleats were thrown from the roof and in the street. We did this in spite of the presence of a police cruiser parked at the intersection. A crowd of pedestrians gathered, picking up leaflets and talking excitedly about what they had seen, as the anarchists disappeared in seconds. People were heard commenting positively about the "anarchist flash mob," and one even climbed up to the roof, looked down at the banner, and then raised his fists in the air in excitement.
Below are photos from the action and the text from the flier. (Click the images for full-size.)

FREEDOM NOW FOR SIMOS SEISIDIS INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

FREEDOM NOW FOR SIMOS SEISIDIS
INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR SOLIDARITY

On the 30/3/2011 the trial for the case of “the robbers in black” will take place in the first degree, regarding the January 2006 National bank robbery on Solonos st., central Athens, and six more bank robberies. It is the same case for which Yiannis Dimitrakis was finally sentenced, in the second degree, to 12,5 years of imprisonment. This time Simos Seisidis, who had been a fugitive for 4,5 years, is in the place of the accused.

Simos was arrested on the 3/5/2010, after a coincidental and unfortunate run-in with a police patrol. As he was a fugitive, Simos did not stop to be controlled and, in the pursuit that followed, was shot from behind, resulting in his life being endangered and, finally, in the amputation of his right leg, due to the severity of the injury. Despite all this, a case has been brought against him also for this incident, with Simos being charged of attempted homicide against the cop who shot him in the back, having first taken cover behind a car! He is in pre-trial detention also for this case, as the inquisitor wanted to bring it to a close in haste, not even waiting for the report from the medical coroner on the amputated limb. The report was finally delivered AFTER A NINE MONTH DELAY, FULLY CONFIRMING OUR STATEMENTS.

Simos became a fugitive after an arrest warrant was issued against him (and against his brother Marios Seisidis and the comrade Marios Tsironis, who are still wanted), following the bank robbery during which Yiannis Dimitrakis was arrested. Without any substantial evidence against them and due to the criminalization of their personal and comradely relationships, the three comrades were forced to flee, not expecting, and justly so, any justice by civil justice, the repressive mechanisms, and the terror-spouting puppets on the news. None of the three aforementioned powers contradicted them: the first sentenced them in absentia to 7,5 years of imprisonment for misdemeanors concerning the seven bank robberies, recently rejecting Simos' right to appeal. The second, after placing the astronomical amount of 600.000 euro on their heads, finally tried to kill him. And the last, with their police leaks and “terror” articles all these years, paved the way for the bullet that finally found its target...

The comrade is also facing the charge of seizure of weaponry, based solely on DNA evidence (which was found in a different area from where the incident took place, but that's fine print if you are an anarchist and indeed a wanted one). Recently, prosecutions based on DNA are...fashionable with the Greek authorities, who have in this way found an easy way to incriminate people, granted that the genetic material of each and everyone of us can be found or transported anywhere at any given moment. With another older case still pending, for which he could have easily been acquitted if not a fugitive (after all he was recently acquitted from yet another frame-up against him), Simos finds himself in prison sentenced for two cases and in pre-trial detention for another three cases, in total. The essence of the case does not lie however in its legal-juridical side, although we consider a short description of the situation as necessary, in order for the comrades inside and outside of Greece to have a clear as possible picture of the intensity and size of the attempt from the side of the state to annihilate this particular comrade. We want the solidarity to his person, in face of his court on the 30/3, to be matching in its intensity and size.

In the last two years in Greece, the empire strikes back. In fear of the social explosions that might erupt due to the intensity of the economic crisis, it is trying to eliminate the factor, who through the diffusion of political consciousness during the explosion, could transform it into a revolution: the anarchist/anti-authoritarian milieu. In attempting this, democracy has lost the last even facade of democraticness. Protesters are beaten with unbelievable fierceness, anarchist spaces are labeled as safe-houses, people are led to prison accused of participating in … unnamed and unknown armed groups, others are accused of being “terrorists”, because they were walking down a road or were drinking a coffee. But unfortunately for those in power, were they repress one focus of resistance, another ten spring up...

They are trying to transform social struggles into a harmless and pointless activity, through the use of fear and repression. It is up to us to throw that fear back into their face. They are trying, through the paradigmatic annihilation of those in struggle who find themselves in their clutches, to deter the rest from choosing to struggle and resist, and to render the imprisoned comrades into ghosts, still remembered by only a few friends and relatives... It is up to us to not forget our comrades. It is up to us to take them back.

WE WILL NOT ALLOW SIMOS SEISIDIS' ANNIHILATION. Not because he is “innocent”. Nor because he was brutally “punished” by the repressive mechanisms. BUT BECAUSE HE IS A FIGHTER.
WE DEMAND HIS IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Not out of “democratic sensitivity”. Nor out of humanism.

BUT BECAUSE HE IS A COMRADE.
WE CALL ON THOSE IN STRUGGLE, TO COMRADES INTERNATIONALLY, TO JOIN THEIR VOICES WITH OURS IN FACE OF THE TRIAL ON THE 30/3/2011. Not out of pity. Nor out of duty. But because we are anarchists.
AND SOLIDARITY IS OUR WEAPON

NEWS for anarchist comrade Simos Seisidis. From the court, relating to incidents in Petras Theatre, Athens, in 2000 and the forensic report following his arrest, concerning his wounding from behind by a cop, and subsequent amputation of his leg.

On Friday 18 / 2 the trial started about the incidents in the Rage Against The Machine concert in theatre of Petras in the summer of 2000 in athens. It was interrupted, and was finalized on Friday 25 / 2. Simos was acquitted of all charges by a vote of 7- 0 to the line of the prosecutor's proposal.
He belonged to the group of
six anarchists whose names were given by the media and two police officers as ringleaders of the attacks. In the trials that followed the police retracted their statements, as happened now with one of the two cops that appeared in court. Like the other comrades before, so also for Simos, the charges were dropped.
He did not appear in court this time, sending a short text protesting against the way he was transferred, stating that it
is not fit for human or animal.
At the same time yesterday his lawyer finally received the forensic report ordered concerning his amputated leg nine months ago. The forensic report confirms our claims FULLY. Simos was shot from behind while running, once from the bottom up, which proves that the cop that shot him was crouching behind a car when the shooting took place. The amputation was the result of complications due to poly-traumatic injuries from machine gun fire (conclusion of the histological examination).
Remember, Simos is on remand on charges of attempted murder arising from that incident ...

solidarity actions  coming for comrade Simos Seisidis who is to be tried in 30 / 3 for the robbery of the National Bank in Solonos Street  in athens in January 2006 (Giannis Dimitrakis case ).

Simos Seisidis is an anarchist arrested on May 3d  2010 by cops in Athens. Simos has had a price on his head for a long time, accused of being a member of the so-called “robbers in black” (oi listes me ta maura) who were, allegedly, a group to which imprisoned anarchist Yiannis Dimitrakis also belonged to.
On Friday, May 28th 2010 it was announced that his health condition worsened rapidly and that Simos had an emergency operation and had his leg amputated.

SOLIDARITY IS OUR WEAPON

(extracts from two different texts, published in Anarchist Bulletin, no 7, September 2000)

Dozens of people arrested the night of "Rage Against the Machine" concert that took place in June, after riots outside the concert and clashes between groups of youth and the police forces. The police suffocated the area with use of tear-gas, but didn't manage to catch anyone. After the concert finished and about 8000 people started leaving, riot and security police ranged themselves out all the way, so that people had to pass through them. That's when they began making arrests, chosing who will they present as suspect. About 20 of the young people arrested, after beaten up in the Public Security (police hq), were taken to the public prosecutor and charged for felonies. They were temporarily released on bail and on terms, except from two of them, V. Panousis and K. Nikolaidis, who were judged as "especially dangerous" to be set free (also they are now released). The lack of any evidence was "covered" by "identifications" by the cops themselves. The real reason they chose them is their attitude towards the authorities and their police criminal record, rather than any proved relation with the riots.
The repressive operations and the machinations of state authorities continued against the anarchists. One day after the RATM concert, in June 15, the police announced that 6 more persons are wanted for participating in the riots, according to tesimonies of two cops who were supposed to have "identified" them. Not accidently, all the six of them are active anti-authoritarians and anarchists, known to the police as such. Among those six persons, there was comrade Simos SEISIDIS, a permanent target for the prosecutory authorities during the last years. He was arrested and released on terms and on bail as well as the other five comrades.
But Simos didn't stop being a target for the police machinations and very soon, in the 1st of August, as he was going to the police station to report himself according to the terms of his release, he was arrested again. This time for... bank robery, with the evidence that his fingerprint "was found in a plastic bag 500 metres from the bank" !
The police report mentions that "the robery that took place in ALPHA BANK, in the 29 of June, was commited by two unknown persons". Without presenting any other evidence, they continue their report saying that " Seisidis, born in Athens in 1976, has been arrested in the past, repeatedly, with charges of 'property destruction', 'arsons', 'posession of explosive bombs'."
So Simos, is going to prison for a robery "commited by two unknown persons", with the evidence of a fingerprint that the police "found" in a bag, and for being branded as anarchist.
We should remind that Simos had been arrested for first time in Feb. 1995, accused with three other persons for attempt to arson in a car for press distribution. He had then stayed two months in a prison for minors, and the police had taken the chance to blame him, while in prison, for three more arsons that were commited in 1994!

He was arrested again, along with 504 more persons, in 17th November 1995, after the police invaded the Polytechnic School which had been occupied as an act of solidarity with the prisoners' revolt in Koridalos and with anarchist prisoners who were then on hunger strike.

WE WILL NOT HUSH AND WE WON'T LEAVE ANY COMRADE ALONE IN THE
REPRESSIVE OPERATIONS AND THE MACHINATIONS OF THE STATE

Solidarity action at the Court of Thessaloniki for the 5 hunger strikers accused of CCF
An action took place yesterday morning in the Thessaloniki court building for the 5 hunger strikers (H. Hadtzimihelakis, P. Massouras, P. Argirou, G. Karagiannidis, G. Tsakalos)  accused of involvement in the
Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, on their eighth day of hunger strike.

They gave out leaflets with texts (one by 4 of the hunger strikers, and the statement by hunger strikers G.Tsakalos-M.Nikolopoulou), which were thrown into the courts on all the different levels of the building.

In particular, texts were given to the people who had come to the court, were put under the doors of investigators, prosecutors, etc., were left on seats in the courtrooms, in canteens, and were put up on the court noticeboards, and the corridors were full up with leaflets in solidarity with the hungerstrikers and the CCF defendants.

UPDATE OF THE ONGOING C.C.F TRIAL 10 February

This morning, the three defendants that are free on bail, Emmanuel G., N. Vogiatsakis. and E. Rallis., and Mitrousias A., on remand, went to court and their lawyers requested that the judges (who listened with expressions of disbelief on their faces) of the three-member Appeals Court be revoked, because, they said, there are suspicions of bias on their part.
Representatives of the Piraeus Bar Association today went to the trial of those accused of CCF to intervene, following the events of last Wednesday. The PBA sent representatives of the association to see for themselves the conditions under which the trial is proceeding and possibly to make a complaint. The delegation announced this to the court through defence lawyer K. Papadakis, as a form of pressure on the judges. They charged them with procedural violations and the decision to withhold the identity of persons entering the courtroom to watch the trial and for not recording the proceedings, for their appointment of defence lawyers and sending the notes of the proceedings to the Prosecutors Office and the Athens lawyers association. The application for exemption does not involve Constantina Karakatsani, as she has retained her initial lawyers . The trial was adjourned to next Tuesday to consider the lawyers' request to revoke the judges.
The trial will resume Tuesday February 15

Refusal of prison food - Rumy Syrianos

From the moment of the notorious case of Halandri and the first arrests for the Revolutionary Organisation CCF, an unprecedented for Greece campaign of political persecution and criminalization of friendship and comradeship and attempts at
depoliticisation of revolutionary theory and practice, has clearly emerged. The newly opened anti-terrorist theorem, elaborated on the 12th floor of G.A.D.A [anti-terrorist department of the central police station] and built by The Counterfeit reality of the media, fits almost anyone who thinks to resist.
The trial for the same case could not but seal this campaign. Certainly the anxious effort of depoliticisation of proceedings of the trial is self-eliminated by the regime itself (from the special composition of the tribunal, a special room for the trial in Korydallos prison, refusal to record the minutes, recording of the details of anyone who wants to watch the trial procedure as well as the repeated appointing of lawyers for the defendants). It is evident that the state is trying hard to send a clear message to any outbreak of insurgency and at the same time to bend the solidarity movement, using it to extend the already existing lists of suspects to follow and future prosecutions.
Under these conditions of the State's counterattack and the mechanisms of repression, solidarity constitutes one of the most powerful weapons at our disposal. Thus from 9/2, I have begun to refuse prison food as a minimal sign of support and solidarity, to the defendants of the Revolutionary Organization Conspiracy Cells of Fire that have gone on hunger strike, but also as an action of resistance to the methods of authority, considering always the restrictions of action that a prisoner has.
P.S. The present letter was written in a hurry because of the developments of the trial of the comrades. A letter will follow where I will try to deposit the opinions and perceptions that led me to my choices and ultimately to my arrest.

news for simos seisidis trial athens......FIRST DAY 19 NOV.

As was expected, since you have to cope with commissioned judges that follow commands from up above, the application of cancellation of the first court that charged Simos in absent for the delinquencies of 7 different robberies, was rejected.
Simos didn’t appear in the process because it was attempted again to transport him with the special prison-van with the internal cage, that is literally as if you are transported in a box. Repeatedly prisoners have asked to abolish this way of transfer. His lawyer asked for a postponement, producing also the relative doctors documents. Of course, it was rejected.
The trial proceeded normally. During it, the presiding judge constantly mentioned “this you will say on Wednesday”, substantially making it obvious that the decision was predetermined, since if the cancellation became acceptable, there would not be a trial on Wednesday!
Despite it became acceptable that the application was within the time limit, considering the situation of Simos during his hospitalisation did not allow any… dealing with urban justice, was rejected because the call that was made at… town hall of Vironas area, was legal since he himself was a fugitive and the authorities did not know where he lives(!).
Commonly bullshit…
The substance of this case, why that is he was a fugitive, and which was developed extensively so much by the witnesses, as by the lawyer, went unnoticed. As it also went unnoticed that in reality he has already been condemned for 7 robberies. Naturally, since it is a fully class justice, that considers that proletarians that deny the role of a slave of the system, should be exterminated… And anyway, if something is fugitive here, it is common sense, the indication of innocence and real justice…
When the decision was announced, the comrades that were in the room, severely heckled the judges, which withdrew immediately. On Wednesday the 24th , on the sixth floor, room 120 D, at 9.00 am, it will be attempted again to cancel the original court, or else the court of appeals will happen.

Update on Simos Seisidis situation

29/10/10
Ten days ago Simos put on his artificial leg (c-leg) which was bought for 37.000 euro with the contribution of the whole movement. It takes a few months until he learns how to use it perfectly.
The court case of the shooting has closed. The prosecutor was in a hurry to get rid of it... She didnt even wait for the coroners report on the amputated leg that was ordered FIVE MONTHS AGO and is delayed for an “unknown” reason (not at all unknown, we already know it...)
On the 19th and 24th of November are two trials for the same case: the seven robberies in the case of “the robbers in black”. He was sentenced for that to 7,5 years without showing up to court during the time he was outlawed. He was sentenced even for what GIANNIS DIMITRAKIS WAS FOUND INNOCENT OF. On the 19th is the trial to cancel the first trial, and on the 24th is the appeals court (if the canceling is not excepted).

Information about the solidarity concert for Simos on sept. 26th

The 8.000 individuals that participated in the concert of solidarity to Simos Seisidis, that happened on the 26/9 in Petroupoli, gave a loud answer to the  scare of terrorism, the police savagery and the persecutory fury against Simos, a unique “presence” of solidarity. The hundreds comrades, mainly from the anarchist but also the far left movement, who worked non stop for the success of the concert, even if some people had disagreements with the character, proved that we can accomplish a lot  with unity, comradeship and introversion. The clean income of the concert is 39.000 Euros, which will be disposed mainly for legal expenses (Simos until now faces six different prosecutions), for his expenses in prison and for the dealing of medical matters in the near future (the sum for the purchase and the placement of the artificial member has been paid off). The fight against the lame official charges, the persecutory vengeance and the mission to exterminate of Simos Seisidis continues!

UPDATE ON SIMOS SEISIDIS SITUATION

1/10/10
TRIAL POSTPONED
His application for release in the case of his shooting by the cop, which has turned into... attempted homicide from Simos, was denied a few days ago. The thought of the prosecutor that Simos in “saint pauls” (koridallos prisons hospital) enjoys all the necessary attention he needs (this is where we laugh...), and because of the other cases on his back, he is considered to dangerous to be released...
The judicial and police authorities denied to comply as they should have to the demand of Simos Seisidis for a human and dignified transfer to the courts today. Simos demanded his transfer to be made with a normal cop car because of his health situation, and to not helping hem any of the cops to get out from the cop car! while the authorities insisted they used a special cop van with a small metal cage inside it. The prosecutor at evelpidon court showed good intentions to allow Simos demand, but was stopped by the pereus prosecutor and the management of koridallos prisons. Around of couple of comrades anarchists for solidarity! wos there all morning to see Simos bad next time..

On Friday 1 / 10 at 9.00,ALL! THERE !!TO THE  courts where the road passes Cadets comrade SIMOS SEISIDIS

FOR SIMOS SEISIDIS

Tomorrow at 9 am comrade Simos will be taken through the magistrate's Cadets (building 10) to answer charges in a case involving the seizure of arms from the guard Kedikoglou. The only indication of involvement of the comrade is, according to their persecutors, a ... hair in a cap bearing the dna evidence.
After targeting him, they shot him and condemned him to a permanent disability [the amputation of a leg], and are continuing to seek every means to destroy him, even turning the hair into a ... rope. We are sure that the continued expansion of the file of Seisidis is an attempt to intimidate fighters, and respond as follows: State terror did not prevent over 8,000 people attending a concert in solidarity with Simos Seisidis. Definitely not terrorized, then, those who stand stand committed beside him, let alone Simo himself.
Against the indictments, in solidarity with our comrade we will all BE THERE.

The prosecutor at evelpidon court showed good
intentions to allow Simos demand, but was stopped by the pereus prosecutor and the management of koridallos prisons.
comrades were gathering all day to see Simos but it did not happen, next time..!
1st of October at evelpidon courts Athens

Yesterday at the solidarity concert for our comrade Simos Seisidis, we were informed that on the first of October he is going to court at 9am. If its true, we should find out which building it will be. Besides that, whoever is not working or is available should be there.

Hamilton, Ontario: Demonstration in Solidarity with Hunger Strike

Direct ActionJuly 19th, 2010 -- A noise demonstration took place outside of the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre (Barton Jail) in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. Around 25 people marched around the prison, chanting slogans (the passion for freedom is stronger than all prisons; no prisons, no borders, fuck law and order; they might take our lives away but not our dignity, our hearts will pound against their walls until we all are free; smash the borders, fuck the state, all these walls are going to break; no justice, no peace, fuck the police; etc), shooting off fireworks, and making speeches.

This demonstration was held to continue creating a visible presence and tension against prisons and the world that needs them, as well as to take direct action in solidarity with the insurgent spirit: with everyone who chooses the dignity of struggle above the servility of obedience.

The 19th of July marked the beginning of a hunger strike in Saint Paul’s Hospital (the infirmary ward of Korydallos prison near Athens, Greece). Below is a translation of a communication about this hunger strike. Solidarity with prisoners in revolt, inside and outside the jails of this prison-world!

“On Monday, July 19th, prisoners will start refusing food with a demand to address and solve the problem of prolonged detention of people with chronic and incurable diseases, who (due to their state of health) should have their sentences reduced.

The human ''dump", as the prisoners of this institution call it themselves, is simply tragic, as we have also heard from comrade Simos Seisidis presently being held there. People with disabilities, strokes, and fatal diseases are thrown into this vile, dirty environment full of shortcomings.

The Secretary for prison policy visited some time ago, and stated that a legislative bill would resolve the matter in February or March. Naturally, he was telling lies.

The prisoners themselves, in their statement to the Minister and the media say:

‘Powerless to react differently, and anyway lacking our health, we are offering what is left of our lives to sacrifice them to your inhuman indifference, not because we hope you will change, but because we refuse to live like beasts, like waste from a system and society without humanity, ethics, or honour.

So, from Monday, July 19th, all those who are able to will abstain from food and all medication and treatment, as a last sign of dignity and self-respect...’

Our comrade Simos Seisidis will participate in this mobilization.”

Until we are all free!
