They don't frighten us, they make us angry

On Sunday morning of the 24^th of October, around 1 am, a fire erupted in the self-managed haunt in the University of Rethymno (Crete). All the indications point that it was an arson caused by neo-Nazi scams, as a pile of flammable materials was gathered in the middle of the space to facilitate the set up of the fire and fascist slogans were written on the wall. The University of Rethymno is under occupation by the students, against the meeting of the university rectors and the upcoming educational reform. Though the fascist tags do not indicate a specific neo-Nazi group, all the suspicions fall upon O.E.P. (Organization of Nationalists of Rethymno), since the latter has a long history of attacks against comrades, immigrants and youngsters and a strong presence (along with cover by the cops) in the city of Rethymno, every time that is needed by the authorities a reactionary response against the wider left/anarchist movement.
On Sunday night of 24/10/2010, in Larissa city, right before midnight, there was a fascist attack at a convenient store owned by immigrants. Four persons armed with blackjacks (riot sticks) and broken bottles attacked the two employees and stall their cell phones and also money from the cash register. The cashier injured in the head was transferred to the hospital, while one of the attackers was immobilized and handed to the police by the immigrants. 20 comrades arrived in the place of the attack, spoke with the immigrants and landed a spontaneous small scale demonstration at the police station where the neo-Nazi was held. A week before the attack, the outer lights of the shop were broken and slogans of racial hate were written on the front under the tag of “Xrysh Avgh” (Golden Dawn, a neo-Nazi organization active in Greece). The arrested neo-Nazi is a minor of 17 years old.
There is no doubt that in this crucial historical moment of the ongoing social war in Greece, the neo-Nazis try to climax their action, influence a wider part of the Greek society and rise up as a competitive force in the fields of social struggle. Towards this threat, locals and immigrants, we organize ourselves by all means necessary and hunt them back to their filthy shitholes.
On Tuesday 26 of October an antifascist demonstration took place in the city of Rethymno. Around 250 people participated marching through the center of the city and protesting against the neo-Nazi attack.

We claim responsibility for the sabotage of an experimental field of genetically modified corn in Badajoz province. On Sunday, September 19, several people sabotaged a crop of genetically modified corn—designated type SF1035T and related to another variety already being sold by Monsanto—owned by Fitto Seeds in Guareña municipality, Bajadoz.
This action is a small response to the imposition of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) by biotechnology corporations and the Spanish state.
Ever since massive GMO experimentation, approval, and marketing began, the creators and developers of GMOs have been declaring that they would be capable of ending hunger and safeguarding the health of humanity, possibly ushering in a cleaner, more efficient agriculture. Nothing could be further from reality.
The imposition of GMOs is taking place in the context of enormous transnational corporations fighting for monopolistic control of seeds and chemical fertilizers, monoculture, genetic contamination, the elimination of the small and medium-sized farmer, the liquidation of local economies, the disappearance of indigenous seed varieties, huge distribution networks, the pollution of water supplies with toxic waste, and the disintegration of rural communities. In short, the context of the capitalist model.
GMOs are incompatible with other forms of production and social organization based on restoring a more traditional agriculture that satisfies the needs of populations instead of markets, doesn’t exceed the limits of ecosystems, and aims to rid itself of the illusion of associating happiness with consumption.
Such models are particularly needed in a world gripped by starvation and global warming caused by the planet’s submission to the market and state totalitarianism.
Therefore, GMOs have not managed to fulfill the goodness they were said to be capable of. Instead, they represent another turn of the screw in the agroindustrial model, which envisions the total expropriation of people’s capacity to feed themselves.
For final decisions regarding the approval and subsequent marketing of GMOs, the Spanish state created the National Biosecurity Commission (CNB), leaving regulation in its hands.
Within the CNB there are seven scientific representatives, many of whom have ties to the biotechnology industry and the pro-GMO lobby. This scientific bloc calls the shots within the CNB, whose duty is to industry, not biosecurity. Proof of this can be found in the growing number of cases of genetic contamination in wheat and corn crops. In entire regions of the Spanish state, the genetic contamination of crops like these has been ensured.
Beyond our frontiers, GMOs have been responsible for all kinds of disasters, like famines, deforestations, poisonings, allergies, and other pathologies stemming from their consumption, as well countless instances of coercion against rural farming communities by biotechnology corporations. And let’s not forget the genuine massacres that have arisen from the manufacture and use of the chemical fertilizers needed by the agroindustrial model, of which GMOs are the latest expression.
Saying no to GMOs means saying no to the aforementioned evils and injustices, saying no to imposition, saying no to the artificialization of life, and saying no to a fool’s progress.
Taking action against GMOs is a legitimate people’s struggle, as well as a sign of common sense and the need for profound social change. It is the fruit of being conscious of how dangerous it is (and how much is at stake) when the Earth is in the hands of capitalism. Whoever sows and promotes GMOs will reap resistance.

Half an hour ago comrade Simos Seisidis was discharged from the neurology department of Evangelismos hospital that kept him last week, and was taken to the prison hospital in Korydallos Athens.

In the middle of the week his lawyers had filed an application for his release - remember that he is in custody for a recent shooting incident when he was arrested and charged with attempted murder ...

The trial for the case of the abduction of arms from the police guard Kedikoglou has been postponed to September.

The workers will have the last word - not the media bosses

The thousands of protesters that filled the streets in Greece on Friday January 9th, proved that the fire of December wonʼt be put out, not by bullets and acid against activists, nor by the ideological terrorism spread by the media these last few days. Consequently, the Stateʼs only response to the youth and the workers was, once more, raw repression. Encouraged by the mediaʼs demands of zero tolerance, and by the orders of their bosses, the police were free to attack with chemicals, violence and arrests, against anyone who came their way.

When, as on January 9th, oppression by the State turns even against the workers, journalists, photographers and lawyers who stand in the streets against the side of the murderers, it becomes even clearer that the rebellion during the past month has put forward an issue of dignity for everyone whose survival depends on wage labor. As a result, some of us, media workers and students, stand beside the rebels. We do it actively: we participate in their fight as workers, and we join their fight with our own everyday battle in our places of work. Our main goal is to prevent the bosses from imposing their views about the events, an example of which is that a photographer, Kostas Tsironis, was fired by the daily newspaper “Eleftheros Typos” (“Free press”) because he took a picture of a cop raising his handgun a day after the 15-year old Alexandros Grigoropoulos was murdered.

We donʼt fool ourselves about what the media, a crucial ideology apparatus of the State, will do to force the people to leave the streets and go home; theyʼll do everything, and we know it all too well, because, of course, we work in the media. We also recognize that the big-time journalists are only able to promote the abolition of university asylum and the idea of two different kinds of demonstrators (the violent “koukouloforoi” vs. the “peaceful” ones), as long as we remain silent.

Our place is with the rebels. One more reason for this is because we experience everyday exploitation in our workplaces too. In the media industry, like everywhere else, we have to deal with the consequences of precarious, unsecured or unpaid labour, by-piece working, overtime labor, and all the other forms of bossesʼ whims. Lately, under the threat of a coming economic crisis, we also experience intensification of layoffs, and of the fear of them.

Like all workers, we experience the hypocrisy and the betrayal of the syndicates. The Journalistsʼ Union of Athens (ESIEA) is an institution that turns against the workersʼ calls for resistance against the bosses, due to the crucial need to overcome any internal divisions and job fragmentation, in order to create a united trade union in the press. In their attempt to split the media workers from all the other workers, ESIEA is, in reality, a bossesʼ union and a basic support mechanism for them, as was testified by their refusal to take part in the general strike on Wednesday, December 10th 2008.

For all these reasons, as an initiative of wage workers, unpaid workers, recently-fired workers and students in the media, we have decided to occupy the ESIEA building, in order to voice all these things, in solidarity with a society in revolt:
- Free information, against the ideological propaganda of our bosses in the media
- Direct action, self-organized and democratic, by all media workers against the attacks waged against each and every one of us.
