Friday, 22 January 2010 Down with the courts and all prisons! Solidarity with the comrades in Lisbon!

On the 22nd of january, the trial of the arrested at the anti-authoritarian demo of 25th of April of 2007, began.
The trial takes place at the Campus de Justiça of Lisbon, a building block of about 10 buildings where all the courts of the city are concentrated. A place with all the worst things of progress: surveillance cameras on each corner and where the architecture is the opposite of communication among people, gathering, joy and rebelliousness.
In the course of the audience the defendants were identified and the accusation was read out.
Before and during the session there were leaflets handed out..
Throughout the audience some comrades gathered outside the court with a banner reading "Today as yesterday We continue on the streets Against all authority", and shouted words of solidarity, as "Freedom is in our hearts, Down with the courts and all prisons."

TEXT OF LEAFLET HANDED OUT OUTSIDE THE COURT

On the 25th of April 2007 happened in Lisbon an anti-authoritarian demo against fascism and capitalism. Close to 500 people took part on a march through one of the city’s richest areas, where paint was thrown at shops, banks and a riot cop van and slogans were spray painted on walls. To this shamelessness the guards of democratic order replied with a police charge and beatings against the demonstrators and everyone who were passing-by. As a result of this charge and of a few Hollywood-style chases throughout the city centre 11 individuals were arrested, charged among other things with insults and assaults on police officers. On the 22
nd of January 2010 the trial is due to begin, at the court Campus de Justiça de Lisboa.

Two years later, this incident comes to court; such a fact doesn’t surprise us nor should it surprise anyone, Justice delays but it doesn´t forget, nor is it supposed to forget, that´s its role, the role of never letting us forget that there’s always someone above us that has control over our lives. It can be a cop with a baton or someone in a gown with a little hammer. And it doesn’t stop here, it goes on with the military occupation of neighborhoods by the police, the deportation of immigrants, the intimidation of kids in the high schools looking for snitches, the surveillance cameras everywhere, the active role by the journalists paving the way for repression and the each day stronger call for everyone to snitch on each other, making us cops of others and of ourselves.

But this is what pops up in front of our eyes, day by day; then we have all the other things that we can only feel, that kill us without wounding us: the obligation of tasks and routines that are not of our choice and that rob us of our time and dry us inside; the flooding of images and sounds and relations that make it hard to breath even in the open air; the crushing daily survival in a society that is more and more an open air prison.

We know that the real point is more than a few damaged windows and offended cops. It is the attempt to grab the totality of life and of using all the tools we want in the struggle against a social order that consumes and destroys individuals, our relationships and the world we inhabit. It is precisely because this democratic order can not tolerate all the beautiful and wild things and people that still exist that in the last few years we´ve seen and felt a growing criminalization in the media, and the persecution by the forces of repression, of many of our and others’ actions and daily activities.

In the struggle for the liberation of our lives, we know who our comrades are and who are our enemies, and we go on finding all the others with whom we can meet in the joy of revolt, in the refusal of a controlled and manipulated life, where the will to live is greater than the comfort of a miserable survival.

Grigoropoulos trial under way
Policemen face 15-year-old’s mother in court but deny intention to kill youngster shot in Exarchia

The two policemen accused of involvement

in the December 2008 shooting of teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos, whose death sparked widespread rioting, yesterday denied murder, as the boy’s mother accused the pair of treating her son like a “cockroach.”

“I do not accept liability for anyone’s death,”

said special guard Epaminondas Korkoneas, accused of shooting at Grigoropoulos following a verbal exchange

in the central Athens neighborhood of Exarchia. “I would have stepped forward to shield anyone, including those kids. It was the outcome of a difficult moment.”

Korkoneas’s lawyers are arguing that he fired

a warning shot after a group of youths had thrown objects at him and his partner Vassilis Saraliotis. Korkoneas will argue that the bullet ricocheted before striking Grigoropoulos.

Saraliotis denies any involvement, despite accusations that he encouraged Korkoneas, 39, to shoot.

“I do not accept I intended to be involved in his death,” said Saraliotis, 33

. “I have nothing to do with my colleague’s action. I am certain that I am innocent and I plan to prove it.”

The trial was due to start Wednesday but was delayed for 48 hours as Grigoropoulos’s mother, Gina Tsalikian, could not attend. She was in court yesterday and accused the two special guards of murdering her son.

“They started swearing at the kids and telling them to leave: ‘Get out of here,’ said the policeman; ‘Why? What are you going to do to me?’ replied Alexis, at which point he got out his gun and shot him,” said Tsalikian.

“They saw a child fall to the ground dead and just left.

They went back to their headquarters and did not say they had shot a child. It was like they had killed a little mouse.

These people valued the life of my son as much as a cockroach’s.”

Tsalikian said that Alexis and a friend had unwittingly found themselves between a group of anarchists and the two officers after the policemen used a stun grenade, prompting the two youngsters to go and see what was going on.

“He was a quiet, reserved boy loved by everyone,” said Tsalikian. “He trusted the police and they shot him.”

Korkoneas’s lawyer, Alexis Kougias, asked the court to investigate whether Grigoropoulos had been involved in crowd trouble at a water polo match just hours before he was killed.

The trial is due to resume next Friday. 29/1/10

The trial of the Greek Cop who shot dead a 15-year-old boy in Athens has now started. The BBC has attempted to report on it, but the article is a disg

On December 6, 2008, Alexandros Grigoropoulos was killed by a gunshot wound that pierced his heart, fired by a Cop on duty. The incident sparked riots all over the country within an hour, that lasted for several weeks. The Cop's trial started on January 20, 2010, in a small town called Amfissa, 200km (120m) from Athens. The relatives of the boy and some prosecution witnesses have complained that this makes it very hard to attend the trial, which was moved from Athens because of "secutrity" issues.

The BBC has attempted to report on the trial but the article ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8473857.stm) is full of lies. Malcolm Brabant, who is the BBC's correspondent in Greece, is well known for fabricating stories to suit the needs of the Greek government, the EU, and Western Capitalism as a whole. He is also known for covering the Balkan conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, equally irresponsibly. It is not surprising to most of us following Greek events that his reporting would twist reality.

The article starts with the following statement:

"The mother of Alexandros Grigoropoulos - the Greek schoolboy shot dead in 2008 - has called the policeman who fired the fatal bullet a "monster"."

This is not true. During the trial, the Mother of Alexandros called the policeman who fired the bullet and his partner, who is also on trial as his accomplice, "murderers". Not "monsters". A "monster" is not a legal term and would not be useful in court. There is a difference. Calling the defendant a "monster" would imply lack of respect, which is not the case.

We then move on to this: "to deter attacks by anarchist groups which have vowed to kill the two defendants"

No anarchist group has ever vowed to kill the two defendants. I would very much like to see Malcolm Brabant's sources for this statement. The marches and riots are not only carried out by anarchists. There are several different ideologies involved, and it is not even limited to the leftists. Several people who were not previously politically active have joined the protests, without alligning themselves with any leftist or anarchist group.

"Speaking at the trial in her first public comments since the shooting, Mrs Tsalikian said both defendants were "monsters in the guise of men"."

Absolutely not. As mentioned before, she merely called them "murderers", while crying and hardly being able to speak, while describing how she was informed of her son's death.

"The key forensic evidence will be the ballistic tests on the bullet, says the BBC's Greece correspondent Malcolm Brabant."

What is not mentioned here however is that there are several forensic reports in existence. The initial report, by a highly regarder professor, who was hired by the Cop, is now "burried" as the professor found that the Cop aimed directly at the boy and no ricocheting took place.

What is also not mentioned is that in several of the disturbingly many police murders, "ricocheting bullets" are the most commonly used excuse. This has been the subject of many ironic cartoons depicting police officers and bullets ricocheting in 100 different locations before killing someone. It seems like there must be a "ricocheting bullet epidemic" in Greece at the moment..

"These should indicate whether the bullet ricocheted off a building or parking bollard in the street where Alexandros Grigoropoulos fell."

"The boy's family have been hurt by accusations made shortly after his death that Alexandros was a troublemaker."

Well, this simply fails to take into account that implying your murdered son was some kind of troublemaker who somehow "deserved" this fate, is just shockingly rude and painful to a mother who lost her son in yet another state murder.

"The restricted number of access roads into Amfissa has given the authorities a chance to prevent large numbers of potential rioters from getting through."

There was no intention or plans for violent protests in Amfissa. Anarchists had visited the town before the trial to give out leaflets informing people of their views on the trial and to reassure the locals that there is absolutely no threat against them. This was done peacefully and the locals showed interest. On the first day of the trial, 400 "visitors" arrived in Amfissa from other Greek towns, both anarchists and not, who arranged two peaceful marches around Amfissa. One was based in the center of the town, while the other headed for the local prison, where the marchers voiced their solidarity to the prisoners and the prisoners chanted solidarity slogans back. There were only very minor incidents with the police, when the march tried to go down a blocked road, but these quickly ended and the march continued peacefully.

"But shopkeepers in the town have pulled down the shutters in fear that they will bear the brunt of anti-establishment wrath."

This is an utter lie. Only two banks and a hotel had been barricaded, the hotel owner being simply paranoid and the banks probably not wanting to risk it. "Anti-establishment wrath" is NEVER against the people. Small stores, like the ones mostly found in small towns are never harmed by any "anti-establishment" actions. These are often harmed, on the other hand, by right-wing organizations and neo-nazis, who aim to create a climate of fear and blame the attacks on "anarchists". The shop owners have started realizing who their enemy is. They are no longer buying into the bullshit that "anarchists" will turn against them. They offered their solidarity to the march and all stores remained open. After the end of the marches, the people involved mixed with the locals and hung out in local cafes and bars. Some report that they were invited by several shopkeepers to drink traditional Tsipouro with them, an act of hospitality in Greece. Again, for Malcolm Brabant to note down for his next bunch of lies: The shopkeepers are NOT afraid of "anarchists" or any "anti-establishment wrath".

Do not trust state controlled media. Keep informed. The trial continues...
Truth
The "peace-loving, tree-hugging non-violent non-Nazis" of the EDL (as they would have us believe) poured into Stoke today intent upon chanting racist slogans, making Nazi salutes and wreaking havoc upon another British town centre.

In a city where BNP councillors make up the political microclimate, and football hooligans veer towards the far right, the neo-Nazi thugs of the EDL attended in larger numbers than expected, and anti-racist demonstrators were down on turnouts in Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham.

Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Sikh faith leaders signed a pledge against all forms of racism, ahead of the event on Saturday, and there was an antiracist rally where resiliant locals dodged the Redwatch cameras to make there opposition to organised racial hatred known, but given the historical significance of this part of the Midlands, when Oswald Mosley chose to march through the very same place, many anti-fascist individuals felt intimidated to stand up to be counted. Those people who did join the meaningful anti-fascist protest however, were a broad cross-section of society, unlike the monocultural biggoted Islamophobes of the EDL.

Before every "anti-extremist demo" as the far right EDL like to cleverly brand their racist gatherings for the benefit of the press, deceitful public relations supremo and Portsmouth supporter Trevor KKKelway puts out public declarations to his own supporters to "behave nicely", knowing full well that his street army of hardened soccer hooligans, (for all of their anti-immigrant racism, setting up Facebook groups calling for the expulsion of Non-English speakers from hallowed shores of England), their (almost) totally white membership do not understand English.

Dogs bark, cows moo, cuckoos cuckoo, and brainless football hooligans scuffle and fight. The Police described the UAF protestors as being no-problem, however when the Wetherspoons bevvies had worked their way into the bloodstreams of the EDL thugs, they "turned native", chucking missiles at riot police, attempting to fatally crush policemen and women to death by attepting to turn over a police van, (see the BBC video http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/8476873.stm), and while chanting endless racist slogans, burst their way through riot shields, trampling several officers underfoot.

So much once again for the lies and spin of the EDL. When will the media stop being "political correct" about the EDL and stop calling a violent drunken gang of English nationalist racist football hooligans "anti-extremist protestors" with pussyfooting regularity. It's time that the media come clean about the hatred and violence of the EDL.

If anarchists such as G20 protestors had clashed with the police in such a way, trying to turn over police vehicles, attempting to cause grevious bodily harm to police officers, World War III would have erupted in the Sun, Daily Mail and the Daily Express, with gargantuous full-font headlines along the lines of "Lawless Anarchy Wrecks City", but when the aggressors are the violent Islamophobic EDL,media reports are predictability muted, which does little to quell rumours that the neo-Nazi organisation are part of a contrived state conspiracy to shore up the War On Terror, and maintain support for the War In Afganistan.

Several people have commented about the EDL's plans to become a political organisation to take over from the BNP after Old Nick finally pulls the plug from under his comrades feet and switches the lights off. Masquerading as a charity, working in conjunction with the BNP's Soldiers Off The Street charity, the EDL held unlicensed collections of cash for war victims, as the EDL hope to do what the BNP failed to do, infiltrate the British Army.

Politicisation of the British Armed Services sets a dangerous precedent, and the stupid actions of the EDL actually endangers the lives of British soldiers, as as well as fighting Taliban forces across the hills and valleys, they also work with Muslim villagers in matters of security, protecting villagers from violent Tabliban insurgencies. If British forces were to be infiltrated with the institutional racism of the EDL, and racist Muslim-hating bigots become commonplace in our armies fighting in Afganistan, the British Army would be labelled a Crusade.

The crusading theme continually recurs in EDL mythology. The sham "nationalism" of the EDL is a whimsical excuse for old-fashioned racial and religious prejudice, xenophobia and mass ignorance, and contrary to their parroted protestations, the EDL are happy to accomodate their hardcore nazi element. Wigan Mike is the mere tip of the Iceberg.

Attracting national socialists like flies to a fetid dungheap, the crude ignorant loathings of this dispicable far right organisation attract no end of racist nutters to their organisation, a fact self-evident from a random surf of not just the uncensored wastelands of Facebook, nor YouTube, but the EDL's very own "live outside broadcast channel".

Take a look at the screenshot taken from "EDL Media", as they so-slickly call their hate-driven moby phone broadcasts.

When extreme racist supporters are permitted to logon calling themselves "COONS OUT", the damning evidence of the EDL's neo-Nazi pedigree speaks for itself.........................................

Fascist pub The Gloucester Arms at 59 - 61 Leighton Road has been the centre of protests from anti racists following the decision by landlord John Coy

The majority of the pubs windows, including the window to the bedroom used by John Coyne and his wife have been shot out.
The pub walls have been daubed with "Close BNP Pub", anti racist lealfets have been sellotaped to the pub and an Irish Triclor flag has been draped across the pub. [A very large pair of knickers and an outsize pair of bloomers were draped across the other side...]
The anti racist campaign began when anti fascists learned that the pub was ameeting place for organised racists. A protest was called by Camden Anarchists against the pub.
During the meeting held by the Jobbik Party, the landlord of the Gloucester Arms John Coyne came out and told the Camden New Journal and anti racist protesters to "go whistle". He also told the Camden New journal that the neighbours were "all a bunch of swearing tossers and they're all barred anyway".
He said that when he first bought the pub he barred over 70 people. The CNJ interviewed Coyne in the empty pub while the fascists, mostly in sunglasses and bouncer style black bomber jackets sat in a circle having a meeting in the back room.
The pub and the occupents have become the centre of a simmering feud between the pub and neighbours some of whom share an adjoining wall to the pub which hasn't been soundproofed for the level of noise generated. They have complained that children have been let into the pub where Coyne watches hardcore porn in the bar on the pub TV.

Residents have called for a week of action and have asked that people contact Camden Council and ask that the pub license [held by Trust Inns LTD] be revoked.

Camden United Against Fascism are holding a meeting next week, Tuesday 26th January at 7pm, 99 Torriano Avenue, Kentish Town Camden NW5 to discuss how best to keep nazis off of Camden's streets and to adddress the problem posed by the pub. We ask that anti fascists turn out in force for this as the situation is a serious one.

Do I need to start mass occupations reviews? second day of the trial in amfissa 22/1/10

"Ms Tsalikian outside off guard - because her mother is facing a serious health problem - will be Friday in the courtroom in

Amfissa.

A witness will also be asked to submit the minor student whose hands Alexis died.
The testimony will be crucial as it was when the next shot.

Concern is the fact, according to family spokesman Andrew Constantine, that the presiding judge said that he would judge the

case only Tuesday and Friday.
Speaking at Newsit, said that thus the attendance of witnesses by the defense is difficult, impossible.

The same concern expressed by Ms Tsalikian which indicated that not such a serious trial to break into pieces as it must itself

be near her mother. "

The state continues to prurient in memory of Alexis, empaizontas parents and eliminating the last flakes dikaiosynis.Mipos to

P.-S.

Amadeu Casellas: a life story of struggle Amadeu Casellas is a prisoner who has spent more than 25 years in jail due to his participation in dozens of bank robberies, helping with that money to the funding of worker’s struggles in the late 1970’s. None of his activities involved blood crimes. Amadeu has always been a committed and active person, participating in many actions, in the streets as well as in prisons. When he was 14, in 1973, working at a factory, he discovered anarchism. He believed in the armed struggle and in an essential revolution. In 1976 he robbed the Banco Mercantil de Manresa. During the next two and a half years he robbed more than 50 other banks. In 1979 he enters prison and is welcomed with a brutal beating. During all the time he has spent jailed, he has undertaken many hunger strikes and other types of protests, he has sewed his lips and has made countless denounces: about the prices inside prison, against the irregularities and exploitation of the inmates work, against the faking of blood analysis or penitentiary reports… All of this has caused him many “first grades” (isolation) and transfers from prison to prison, with the intention that he gave up. He has reported abuses to prisoners rights and of the entire prison system. Last year, after holding a 76 day hunger strike, Amadeu gained the compromise of the penal institution to enjoy permits that would allow him to get to the “third grade” (weekend permits, the possibility to work outside prison and just go there to sleep…) and a subsequent freedom. Such compromise was blatantly ignored by the institutions. Since july 15th, Amadeu is again on hunger strike. More than 85 days already. This particular hunger strike started after the repression he has suffered since he wrote some communiqués where he explained, with actual names, some facts related to the people in charge of the Catalonian prison system. Since july 2008, Amadeu has spent more then 200 hundred days in hunger strike! He has been in forced feeding: 3,5 litres a day since september 24th. His lawyers and family find it extremely difficult to talk to him. Many “prison workers” and jail unions have tried to sanction the lawyers. When he wants to smoke, the rest of the inmates of the penitentiary wing of the Terrassa Hospital are forced to go back to their rooms. As well as the hunger strike, Amadeu has felt forced to add a thirst strike so to be able to get visits from family and lawyers. That first thirst strike accomplished his intentions. Since Sunday October 4th, he has started another one because they're trying to transfer him again to prison, because “his health has improved”. Some actions and demonstrations have taken place, in Spain as well as in other countries. We feel the need to ask for solidarity with this anarchist fighter. A call for decentralized actions has been made until he gets his third grade and leaves the hunger strike. It should be noted that Amadeu's position depends solely on the Catalonian prison and political system, not of Spain's. Anyway, actions, information and solidarity should be carried in any possible way. It might also help (as happened during last year's hunger strike, along with many actions) to saturate this fax number and e-mail accounts with messages supporting Amadeu: 5th, blatantly ignored by the institutions. nd just go there to sleep...ding a 76 day hunger strike, Amadeu gained the compromise of the penal institution.-th the intention that he gave up.-hunger strikes and other types of protests, he has Fax number: (++34)932140179 You can send it with this program for free: http://www.myfax.com/free/ e-mail accounts: sindic@sindic.cat justicia@gencat.cat We should not leave Amadeu in the hands of the State. Vassilis Palaiokostas nabbed after prison escape

GREECE'S most wanted man has been arrested and linked to the kidnapping of a prominent industrialist, prompting a double celebration for police.

Vassilis Palaiokostas was nabbed in northern Greece this week, two years after his audacious prison escape in a hijacked helicopter.

He has been unveiled as the mastermind behind the kidnapping of multi-millionaire businessman George Mylonas, a crime that has ultimately brought him undone.

"We arrested Greece's most wanted fugitive last night. Evidence shows he is also involved in Greek businessman George Mylonas's kidnapping," a police official confirmed.

Police finally caught up with the escapee after raiding a house in Salonica in connection to the abduction of Mr Mylonas.

Three hooded men had snatched Mr Mylonas, 49, as he drove to his home in the same city in June.

He was released unharmed 13 days later, after his family paid a reported $19 million ransom.

Investigators tracked down his kidnappers after one of the men used traceable bills to buy a car.

The arrest has ended a remarkable chapter in the country's criminal history.

Palaiokostas, 44, and his brother, Nikos, 47, are lifelong criminals with a penchant for armed robbery and extortion who are regarded as Robin Hood figures.

Helping to curry favour during years on the run, they had shared some of their ill-gotten gains with the poor.

In 2006, Vassilis Palaiokostas was languishing behind bars in the maximum-security Korydallos Prison, located outside Athens and home to 2000 of the country's most dangerous prisoners.

He was serving a 25-year sentence for bank robbery and for kidnapping the owner of a factory that made halva, the Greek dessert.

The businessman in that case was released unharmed after the payment of a $2 million ransom, laying the foundations for Mr Mylonas's kidnapping and a much larger payout.

In an episode ripped from the script of a Hollywood blockbuster, his brother and an accomplice hijacked a sight-seeing helicopter and forced the pilot to land inside the prison.

Vassilis and another inmate boarded the helicopter as his brother threw smoke grenades to provide cover. Confused guards initially believed they were undergoing a surprise inspection and then declined to fire a shot in anger.

"We cannot shoot down a helicopter flying over busy streets and houses," one guard explained.

Under threat from a pistol and grenade, the terrified pilot dropped the group at a nearby cemetery, where witnesses saw them flee on waiting motorbikes.

Vassilis's brother, Nikos, knew the prison inside out - he had broken out of Korydallos in 1990 and was still on the run 16 years later.

Nikos had originally been jailed for a series of bank robberies but was also charged in absentia with the same kidnapping as his brother.

He was captured soon after breaking his brother out of prison.

Police nabbed him after a dramatic car chase through the mountains of central Greece, and he is serving an 87-year sentence.

Although he had a stash of weapons on him when arrested, Nikos was no killer and had to be caught without the aid of informers, with a million-dollar reward going unclaimed.

Vassilis remained on the run until police investigating Mr Mylonas's kidnapping hunted him down this week.

NEVER FORGET NEVER FORGIVE!!

Two documents for the trial of Korkonea and Saralioti 20 January Amfissa

On January 20 will be in Amfissa the trial of the Guard and Epaminondas Korkonea Saralioti Claus. The special guards

charged with the death of the young Alexander Grigoropoulos on December 6, 2008 in the area of Exarchia.

As anarchists we do not care for the award of "justice" by the state will not require the agencies to impose penalties in other

organs. As in all cases ( 'light' or 'heavy' penalties) vindicated the statism.

Moreover, the case of "justice" in the hands of officials and the "discretion" (political expediency) of power. In this respect it

is also irrelevant to any outcome of any trial, if and when made.

We care about the political exploitation of the dead 16-year Grigoropoulos Alexander, nor the upcoming trial of two special

guards. These reasonable to leave in any authoritarian cliques, trying to benefit from such situations.

What interests us is that the result of this fact a part of society rose and clashed, sought and seek effective ways of freedom

and justice over the power structures or any substitutes. This, we believe that it is an essential step that denies democratic or

undemocratic practices and reasonable and can affect key authoritarian conditions. And this is another significant legacy to

the holistic path to anarchy.

Photo Courts - Square Amfissa

The square is just short of the courts. Let us mind that the city has only one outlet and is surrounded by mountains.

Since I happen to have descended from Tinh town, there are 2 landings which conclude and 2 stin main square and therefore the courts and a town with little or no rimotomia, with many up and down and generally a closed city. Since I have no contact with inexperienced cops, talk about 400 and wants attention because if you shut the world from the cops there will be no escape routes and generally will be so bad. Much attention to those who will go!
