Bomb Left for Novartis in Guadalajara, Mexico

Simulposted with Liberacion Total

May 19, 2010. This morning a bomb was found in the street near the intersection of General San Martín and Colonia Americana Guadalajara.

State police explosives experts said the homemade bomb consisted of five metal tubes containing powder with a wick, on which lay a half-consumed cigarette.

This is the second time that an explosive was left in the same area. On September 22, 2009 at the entrance of the building, five cans of butane gas, tied with plastic tape, exploded.

On a wall near the building were messages to Novartis, whose offices are in that building:

The Animal Liberation Front Guadalajara Mexico: I placed an explosive device made of dynamite and butane near the building occupied by Novartis, a company that works with Huntington Life Sciences. This laboratory is responsible for torturing and enslaving animals to make products sold as cosmetics and medicines, or to test food ingredients not yet approved. We want to say from Mexico to Novartis and HLS: Vivisection is scientific fraud and we will not rest until they end their cruel speciesist industry. Household products such as cosmetics are unnecessary for our existence, but they continue to justify it is for the sake of a single species. Will they realize that this is not a game when one of their directors or employees appears unconscious in the streets from an attack by some activists? Or they will realize when a long list of family is psychologically and physically intimidated? You decide whether to leave animals or suffer the consequences.

Another murder committed by neo-Nazis in Moscow/

On the 24th of May a group of young people were celebrating their friend’s birthday on the Moscow river embankment in the north-western part of the city. With the party coming to an end, the company started to dissolve while the rest, around 15 people and mostly girls remained to collect the rubbish. At this juncture they were attacked by a group of neo-Nazis (about 40 people) coming from the bridge, shooting their non-lethal guns and screaming «It’s them, get them!" According to the witness neo-Nazis sought to beat each and everyone. One of the girls got her back injured hit by a cobble. When the guys returned to the place most of them managed to get away from, they found their friend Dmitry Kashitsyn lying in blood. He got severely wounded. Dmitry died on the spot even before the police and the ambulance arrived. He was 27.

Having spoken with the witnesses of the tragedy we can try and represent the incident. Young people were peacefully celebrating their friend’s birthday. Many of them were musicians or just heavy/ hardcore/punk music fans with typical for this subculture looks. It is very likely that it came to be this feature and, especially, the guys’ tattoos that caught attention of the neo-Nazis who decided to attack them because they thought them to be anti-fascist activists. The assault was well-planned and deliberate, which is evidenced by the following facts. The first point is that it happened at the end of the celebration, which means that some of the Nazis might have noticed a group of young people, spread the word about that and started preparing an attack. The second is that at the very moment of the attack the Nazis were shouting Nazi slogans and were having non-lethal guns and knives on them. The third point is that they were all wearing masks.

Dmitry’s friends told us that all of the young people present at the birthday party had no relation to the anti-fascist movement and took no interest in politics. Dmitry Kashitsyn had no relation to antifascists either, he just loved heavy music and rarely visited his favorite bands’ concerts. None of the victims had self-defense weapon and they got baffled by such an impudent attack.

As a result neo-Nazis attacked young people who were peacefully resting, beat them up and killed a young Russian guy just because they suspected him of having the opposite views.

Once again this tragedy shows us that the threat of getting beaten up or killed by neo-Nazis is real and concerns each of us, regardless of age, sex and nationality.

Antifascists from Moscow express their condolences to Dmitry’s family. We will do anything to ensure that those who did it will not get away unpunished. This tragedy has proven that there is an urgent need to confront the neo-Nazis and all those who sympathize with them. It is everyone’s duty to do their best to ensure that such tragic event never happens again.

Dmitry’s friends started a fundraising campaign to support his family.

Murder and riots in Warsaw

A 36-year-old Nigerian man was shot to death by a cop known to have violent, racist inclinations.

On Sunday May 23, police raided some Nigerian traders at the Stadium bazaar in the Praga district of Warsaw. One guy was apparently handcuffed and push to the ground. His 36-year-old colleague from Nigeria, Max, tried to intervene and get the police to stop brutalizing the other. Max was shot in the stomach and killed.

There immediately started to be problems with police, who tried then to chase and round up the rest of the panicked African traders, mostly from Nigeria. When more police arrived, some riot started. People were throwing stones and bricks at the police and 4 police vans were destroyed. 32 people were arrested. The police want to charge 25 of them for assault.

The police immediately sent their spokesperson to invent a good story for the media: that police were "surrounded and attacked" by a gang of agressive Africans, so they had to shoot Max. The official media version was racist and uncritical of the police.

We later heard from eye witnesses and are still getting more testimonies and evidence.

ZSP released a statement and called for an emergency action the next day. During the day, the TV interviewed Max's wife, Monika, and Akai from ZSP, finally letting another version of events into the media.

Max had been in Poland legally for many years. He was married to Monika, a Polish woman, with whom he has three children, aged 10, 4 and 2. He was selling goods at the stadium as a second job to supplement his poor income and help support his family.

In the evening, people gathered at the site of the murder. Some speeches were made and then there was a spontaneous demonstration to the police station were people are being held. The protestors took over the main street in Praga and marched to the station. There, a group of Max's friends came and told people about what happened.

25 of the 32 arrested will be charged with assaulting a police office, which faces up to 10 years in prison.

On 23 September 2009 an apartment in the neighborhood of Halandri is raided by the police, and almost directly afterwards Haris Hatzimikelakis, Panayiotis Massouras, Manos G. and Myrto P. are arrested on the charge of being members of the organization “Conspiracy of Cells of Fire”. The apartment is named by the security police “terrorist haunt”, thus incriminating anyone that had been inside. The first three of the aforementioned are held in pretrial detention, while a series of other arrests and warrants are issued based on ridiculous and baseless charges. This story about the apartment in Halandri is like a test-tube; what is attempted is to incriminate bonds of friendship/ comradeship, to hold radical persons hostages and to act as a constant threat for potential arrests, prosecutions and incarcerations.

Jamaica: Gunfire, fire bombs in barricaded slum

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Masked men torched a police station and traded gunfire with security forces in a patchwork of barricaded slums in Jamaica's capital Sunday, prompting the government to declare a state of emergency.

Sporadic gunshots rang out in gritty West Kingston where defiant supporters of Christopher "Dudus" Coke, a Jamaican "don" sought by the U.S. on drug and arms trafficking charges, turned his Tivoli Gardens neighborhood and other areas into a virtual fortress with trashed cars and barbed wire.

In barricaded Hannah Town, close to Tivoli Gardens, black smoke spiraled into the sky from a police station set aflame by molotov cocktails.

Officers fled the burning station in impoverished West Kingston, where a 2001 standoff between gunmen and security forces killed 25 civilians as well as a soldier and a constable

The Jamaica Constabulary Force reported one wounded Sunday: a police officer hit in the hand by gunfire.

Police said the attacks by gangsters roaming the streets with high-powered guns and improvised weapons were unprovoked. It called for all "decent and law-abiding citizens" in the troubled areas to immediately evacuate their homes and said security forces would ferry them out safely.

The heresy of the Greeks offers hope

undefined

As Britain's political class pretends that its arranged marriage of Tweedledee to Tweedledum is democracy, the inspiration for the rest of us is Greece. It is hardly surprising that Greece is presented not as a beacon, but as a "junk country" getting its comeuppance for its "bloated public sector" and "culture of cutting corners" (Observer). The heresy of Greece is that the uprising of its ordinary people provides an authentic hope unlike that lavished upon the warlord in the White House. The crisis that has led to Greece's "rescue" by European banks and the International Monetary Fund is the product of a grotesque financial system that itself is in crisis. Greece is a microcosm of a modern class war rarely reported as such, but waged with all the urgency of panic among the imperial rich. What makes Greece different is that it has experienced, within living memory, invasion, foreign occupation, military dictatorship and popular resistance. Ordinary people are not cowed by the corrupt corporatism that dominates the European Union. The right-wing government of Kostas Karamanlis that preceded the present Pasok (Labour) government of George Papandreou was described by the sociologist Jean Ziegler as "a machine for systematically pillaging the country's resources". Epic theft The machine had infamous friends. The US Federal Reserve board is investigating the role of Goldman Sachs, which gambled on the bankruptcy of Greece as public assets were sold off and its tax-evading rich deposited €360bn in Swiss banks. This haemorrhaging of capital continues with the approval of Europe's central banks and governments. At 11 per cent, Greece's budget deficit is no higher than America's. However, when the Papandreou government tried to borrow on the international capital market, it was effectively blocked by the US corporate ratings agencies, which "downgraded" Greek debt to "junk". These same agencies gave triple-A ratings to billions of dollars in so-called sub-prime mortgage securities and so precipitated the economic collapse in 2008. What has happened in Greece is theft on an epic, though not unfamiliar, scale. In Britain, the "rescue" of banks such as Northern Rock and the Royal Bank of Scotland has cost billions of pounds. Thanks to Gordon Brown and his passion for the avaricious instincts of the City, these gifts of public money were unconditional, and the bankers have continued to pay each other the booty they call bonuses and to spirit it away to tax havens. Under Britain's political monoculture, they can do as they wish. In the US, the situation is even more remarkable. As the investigative journalist David DeGraw has reported, the principal Wall Street banks that "destroyed the economy pay zero in taxes and get $33bn in refunds". In Greece, as in America and Britain, the ordinary people have been told they must repay the debts of the rich and powerful who incurred them. Jobs, pensions and public services are to be slashed and burned, with privateers put in charge. For the EU and the IMF, the opportunity presents to "change the culture" and to dismantle the social welfare of Greece, just as the IMF and the World Bank have "structurally adjusted" (impoverished and controlled) countries across the developing world. Greece is hated for the same reason Yugo slavia had to be destroyed physically behind a pretence of protecting the people of Kosovo. Most Greeks are employed by the state, and the young and the trade unions comprise a popular alliance that has not been pacified; the colonels' tanks on the campus of Athens University in 1967 remain a political spectre. Such resistance is anathema to Europe's central bankers and regarded as an obstruction to German capital's need to capture markets in the aftermath of Germany's troubled reunification. Shock therapy In Britain, such has been the 30-year propaganda of an extreme economic theory known first as monetarism, then as neoliberalism, that the new Prime Minister can, like his predecessor, describe his demands that ordinary people pay the debts of crooks as "fiscally responsible". The unmentionables are poverty and class. Almost a third of British children remain below the breadline. In working-class Kentish Town in London, male life expectancy is 70. Two miles away, in Hampstead, it is 80. When Russia was subjected to similar "shock therapy" in the 1990s, life expectancy nosedived. In the United States, a record 40 million cannot afford to feed themselves. In the developing world, a system of triage imposed by the World Bank and the IMF has long determined whether people live or die. Whenever tariffs and food and fuel subsidies are eliminated by IMF diktat, small farmers know they have been declared expendable. The World Resources Institute estimates that the toll reaches between 13 and 18 million child deaths every year. This, wrote the economist Lester C Thurow, is "neither metaphor nor simile of war, but war itself". The same imperial forces have used horrific weapons against stricken countries where children are the majority, and approved torture as an instrument of foreign policy. It is a phenomenon of denial that none of these assaults on humanity, in which Britain is actively engaged, was allowed to intrude on the British election. The people on the streets of Athens do not suffer this malaise. They are clear who the enemy is and regard themselves as once again under foreign occupation. And once again, they are rising up, with courage. When David Cameron begins to cleave £6bn from public services in Britain, he will be bargaining that Greece will not happen in Britain. We should prove him wron

Switzerland: Short film on Zurich's Autonomous School

On 19 April, a barrack on a plot belonging to the freight depot of Zurich's railway station was squatted and revived. The barrack has been empty for more than a year. The Canton of Zurich plans to build a new police and justice center for 570 million Swiss francs (US$ 500 million) on the plot.

As a result of a police raid and the destruction of the Zurich Autonomous School on the city's outskirts in January 2010, the grassroots association "Education for all" was forced to relocate again. After several stops the association has now restarted to operate in the squatted barrack at the freight depot.

"Eduaction for all" is part of Zurich's Right-to-Stay Collective. For more than a year it's been offering German courses for hundreds of illegalized refugees and migrants as well as asylum seekers whose applications are being processed. The association advocates the right to education, migration and asylum.

A 10-minute video provides an insight into the Autonomous School, while students and teachers depict their points of view.

Dylan Thomas - Being but men, we walked into the trees.

Being but men, we walked into the trees.

Being but men, we walked into the trees.
Afraid, letting our syllables be soft
For fear of waking the rooks,
For fear of coming
Noiselessly into a world of wings and cries.

If we were children we might climb,
Catch the rooks sleeping, and break no twig,
And, after the soft ascent,
Thrust out our heads above the branches
To wonder at the unfailing stars.

Out of confusion, as the way is,
And the wonder, that man knows,
Out of the chaos would come bliss.

That, then, is loveliness, we said,
Children in wonder watching the stars,
Is the aim and the end.

Being but men, we walked into the trees.

Anthony Wall's house attacked leeds u.k

A small number of us have gone on a nice Friday night to Anthony Wall's house in Chappel Allerton, Leeds and shown to him and his BNP scums that their politics are not acceptable by anyone! Wall was a candidate for Gipton and Harehills ward for BNP and has revealed his views a few weeks ago attacking to his black neighbor. We have sprayed his house with "BNP SCUM", glued his door and disturbed his cosy night showing to everyone in the area where the coward lives. We are confident that the multiracial community in the area will send him another message soon making it clear that he is unwanted in the area.

We will keep track of his moves and act again in the very near future. Next time it might be worst.

PLEASE CIRCULATE TO YOUR FRIENDS AND GROUPS...

During the protest I was kettled on Threadneedle St and assaulted by police using "distraction" violence techniques which included kicking me on the ground, beating me on the head with batons and punching my teeth out. I remained peaceful throughout and due to my verbal defence against police violence I now face a charge of Violent Disorder which carries a max term of 5yrs

There were many citizen journalists covering the event, some of which were also assaulted. I especially appeal to these individuals to come forward and give testimony along with legal observers..

ichigan State Police shoot man on Detroit’s east side

May 22nd, 2010

undefined
A Michigan State Police officer shot and wounded a man after a police chase on the city’s east side Friday night, Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans said.

More than 30 officers, including members of Detroit’s gang squad, and at least a dozen police vehicles converged on the scene of the shooting, where a white Ford Escape crashed into a large tree head-on in front of the house at 4404 St. Clair near East Canfield.

A state police cruiser’s right front fender appeared to have collided with the left rear of the SUV. The area was roped off by police tape as dozens of neighborhood onlookers watched the activity. The street was littered with medical debris from the emergency treatment.

A trooper was pursuing what Evans described as a reckless driver around 10:30 p.m.; the suspect’s SUV hit a tree in the residential neighborhood. Three males emerged from the vehicle, Evans said. One was shot by State Police and another later was arrested. The third person escaped on foot.

No details about the names and ages of the SUV occupants were available.

The wounded suspect was transported to an unspecified hospital after treatment by EMTs; Evans said the injury was not believed to be life-threatening.

Community leaders including Malik Shabazz and Horace Sheffield III, who will officiate today at the funeral of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley Jones, hurried to St. Clair Street when they heard of the incident. Sheffield said he feared unrest in such close proximity to the location of the child’s death — six blocks from the home where Aiyana was killed by a police bullet during a raid.

Bystanders said the police chase lasted a long time up and down residential streets, at high speeds. Some said State Police arrested a neighborhood leader who chastised troopers for laughing and joking while the wounded man still was on the scene receiving first aid. Police did not confirm that arrest.

The shooting incident will be investigated by the Michigan State Police and the DPD homicide squad’s special assignments section, which handles all shootings by police.

Action in Paris

May 20th, Paris : The wheel of misfortune

On May 19 in the night, in the north of Paris, we took the opportunity of a night walk to piss some bourges [bourgeois] and collabo [collaborators] off. We took it out on their cars wheels:

- 11 4X4
- 18 luxus Berlines
- 4 cars GDF-SUEZ (that makes a profit of the prisons)
- 3 cars of La Poste ( that manages the bank accounts of the prisoners and denounces undocumented people to police)
- 1 ISS truck ( that makes profit of the Detention Center in Belgium)
- 1 bus of Veolia ( nuclear, High speed train…)
- 2 commercial vehicules of Orange ( that makes the prisoners work)
And to end, we punctured 10 commercials vehicules of the Paris Town.
Each time, several tyres have been punctured so as to clamp down these bastards.

Everyone can do it…

Italy: a GPS found under the truck of the Nunatak revue member

Police technology

May 17, under the van of an editor of Nunatak, we found a finde abbiamo trovato un bel transmitter with a SIM Vodaphone chip and 4 torch batteries, of 3,6 volts each, in series. All placed with a magnet behind a back wheel of the vehicle. This time, just not to boast, it should be said that it didn´t take much to notice that „someone“ had placed a device to spy on our movements. Moreover, for some time now, unfortunately, it is as well to take into consideration forms of technological control that is increasingly invasive and capillary. In fact, among all the manoeuvres and repressive attacks that the State puts into effect against those who still have the courage to raise their heads, this is just the latest sign that the review Nunatak has become object of attention of who knows which Procurator or investigative body. Monitoring, home visits and a whole series of other more or less concealed pressures have been gravitating for some time around the review and whoever collaborates with it with the intention of burning the earth around it and preparing an eventual repressive intervention in the near future. It seems pointless to us to stree once again that their „attention“ will not make us take one step back from our projects, but we can only admit that, for as long as uniforms and authority are concerned about our presence , of our way of thinking and acting, we have confirmation that we are moving in the right direction.

The Vancouver Olympic games are over, but a torch is still burning. 20/5

undefined

Royal Bank Canada was a major sponsor of the recently concluded 2010 Olympics on stolen indigenous land. This land was never legally ceded to colonial British Columbia. This hasn’t stopped the government from assuming full ownership of the land and its resources for the benefit of its corporate masters and to the detriment of aboriginal peoples, workers and the poor of the province. The 2010 Winter Olympics increased the homelessness crisis in Vancouver, especially the Downtown Eastside, Kanada’s poorest urban area. Since the Olympics bid, homelessness in Vancouver has nearly tripled while condominium development in the Downtown Eastside is outpacing social housing by a rate of 3:1. The further criminalization and displacement of those living in extreme poverty continues apace.

"Royal Bank Canada is one of the planet’s greenest companies” according to one of its own brochures. Coporate Kanada saw fit to include RBC as one of the top 50 in a competition dubbed Canada’s Greenest Employers, which purports to recognize organizations that have created “a culture of environmental awareness.” Yet RBC is now the major financier of Alberta’s tar sands, one of the largest industrial projects in human history and perhaps the most destructive. The tar sands, now the cause of the second fastest rate of deforestation on the planet, are slated to expand several times its current size.

The games in Vancouver are now over, but resistance continues. An RBC branch can be found in every corner of Kanada.

On June 25-27 2010, the G8/G20 ‘leaders’ and bankers are meeting in Huntsville and Toronto to make decisions that will further their policies of exploitation of people and the environment. We will be there.

We pass the torch to all those who would resist the trampling of native rights, of the rights of us all, and resist the ongoing destruction of our planet. We say: The Fire This Time.
