A fire has damaged part of a luxury hotel and private members club in central London.

Firefighters were called to No 11, in Cadogan Gardens, Knightsbridge, at about 2000 BST on Sunday.

Two of the venue's five storeys were damaged during the fire and the roof was completely destroyed, the London Fire Brigade said.

The exclusive hotel offers one-bedroom apartments for £2,450 a week. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Anarchists solidarity protest outside Korydallos prison, the main prison in Athens, at the time of the change of the year. This protest happens every New Year's Eve for the past six years. This year more than 400 people took part in the protest that interacted with the prisoners inside through shouting mutual slogans and fireworks. The main slogan was "The passion for freedom is stronger that your prisons".
