Note from TIOJ: This particular office seems to be a popular target for our Chilean comrades.
A military police office in the Ñuñoa neighborhood of Santiago—located at the intersection of Avenida Macul and Avenida Grecia, across from the Metropolitan University of Education Sciences (UMCE, formerly the Teaching Institute of the University of Chile)—has been attacked with Molotov cocktails.
According to initial police reports, a group of around twenty youths were trying to build flaming barricades in the street, and some of them threw several Molotov cocktails at the building.
The office, which serves as a rehabilitation center for the eastern part of the capital, is where people under preventive controls like probation go to register.
At the time of the attack there was only one guard on duty. After the incident, Carabineros and military police riot squad personnel were called to the site in order to tighten security. Pamphlets supporting the Mapuche cause and those arrested in the “Bombs Case” were found on the scene.
