Concerning the events of May 5th
May 5th. Thousands of people take to the streets, we live through a shocking historical experience. In this atmosphere comes the news that makes our blood freeze. Three dead workers. The enthusiasm immediately turns into grief and rage. We can only put together a political statement regarding the events with much difficulty, however we believe that it is worth trying in this direction.
The tragic death from suffocation of three persons, is one more piece of information that the regime and its mechanisms of propaganda try to manage, expecting of course to gain maximum profit of it. In the remainder of the statement, we will not be possessed by any tendency of answer or plea in the calumnies as perhaps it appears. For us it is apparent that an attack is being launched against the entire anarchist/ anti-authoritarian radical scene and against the ideas and the values for which it struggles as such, in face of accusing it for the death of these three persons.
If one thing is known for certain, it is the fact that the state and its mechanisms can manage any deaths they leave behind in their course. From the galleys of labour with the hundreds of labour “accidents” every year, to the borders and the cold-blooded murders of immigrants. From the civilizing wars of Afghanistan, to the bordello – prisons of the countryside and the super-profiting businesses of the trafficking of women. And the list has no end – it always continues.
And to imagine, we only talk of direct (if we can we use this term) deaths that the system manages comfortably. Because the system of raw exploitation of persons produces violence every day. Violence that is channelled through the direct or indirect terrorizing of societies which, fragmented as they are, and without essential knowledge and real information, are not in most cases in position to conceive this violence – let alone to respond. It is no coincidence that henceforth the most famous threats hanging above our heads are:
“Strike equals Unemployment”
“Claiming dignity equals Hunger”
“Resistance equals Imprisonment and torture”
An immeasurable daily death is that of seediness produced by the terror-state of the market and the bosses, whose marks we see only little by little, from the individuals lead to suicide due to debt, to the unverifiable and henceforth even blind metropolitan violence exercised by the oppressed to all directions.
This is the result that the system foresees and tries to adapt to its own account. We do not try to justify the diffusing of violence from the side of the oppressed, we only try to explain this violence. The regime seeks the disorientation and by extension the easier management of the results of the crisis at all levels – a crisis it continuously produces itself as an essential mechanism of bloodletting and submission.
In order to avoid its own collapse, the system seeks and aims to manage for its profit the death of social relations, nodal and leading condition of its very existence.
We experience an attempt to manage yet another death.
How this management is taking place within this particular economic situation is something that we shall henceforth in our skin.
- With the raw terrorizing and our bombarding with misinformation at the same time.
- With the falsification and concealment of the state attack against the society.
- With the effort of breaking into pieces the society and its parts that are in struggle, under the orchestrated targeting and calumniating of its most aggressive political components.
The ostensibly “fanatic defenders of human life and democracy” try in any way and especially in this particular economic situation to step on bodies, to stop an evident tendency of large parts of the society to engage into radical practices of struggle and by this we do not only mean [attacks with] “fire” (see the recent occupation of the National TV Channel from teachers, and its violent repression).
Trying to turn the eyes of the “peaceful demonstrators” to an “internal enemy” of the demonstrations themselves this time, they accomplish one thing. They reveal how much the system and its supporters shake in the idea of their challenging. Some challenging that takes flesh and bones as mass conflict with toppling terms.
At this time the choice of counter-violence, (once again we do not mean only “fire”) has been diffused.
And the authorities know this well. Thus they create, once more, an atmosphere that now has some entirely obvious targets, beyond trying to make an example of those who consider making claims with dynamic terms: to scare, to terrorize and to de-contextualise something that as it seems, they themselves who try to form such an atmosphere are afraid of.
The “fanatic defenders of human life and democracy”, the “civilized” cannibals of the “news” and “informative” programs do not hesitate in face of anything. The mouthpieces of the regime will be the last ones to apologize for their crimes. The fact that the woman was pregnant for them was only an occasion for more blood.
That they do not give a dime for the human life was, is and will be the basic characteristic of all willing supporters of this miserable system.
We are not surprised. This is what we always have been saying.
However:
We are unable to know “who”, because we were not there. We can, however, interpret partly the “how” and the “why’s”. In the street meet disparate [social] pieces that not only hide a lot of internal oppositions but also bridgeless gaps. What we know is that the choice of violence not as means, but as treaty of existence, self-construction, confirmation through an image, does not have anything to offer to what we call competition with political terms. On the contrary, it is as far as hostile. When somebody operates with spectacular terms, they make action an end to itself. Counter-violence is a political tool among many, what it is not is a tool of survival in the street, or a habit. Thus the tripartite means-institution of means-economic situation is not separated. It is continuously checked by the subjects, and their choices that are translated in political responsibility, give it substance, name and space. It is the capable and necessary treaty in order to promote the issue of social emancipation and it is in this frame that we owe to act, to the extent that we can deter and isolate the logics that destroy overnight what people in struggle have been constructing for years.
According to our previous analysis, as anarchists, we cannot have any relation with the paranoia that power promotes. We do not see windows, we see the persons and their relations. We fight so the windows are broken at last from the inside. And this will not happen from one day to the other, nor can it happen in a moment. The gaze of people in struggle should not be locked to the shield or the shop-front.
As anarchists, we struggle for the emancipation of humans from what oppresses them. For solidarity and dignity. For human life. No miserable beings will accomplish changing the course of the anarchist antiauthoritarian movement, let alone its history.
It is the authorities who murder
and they know it, as much as each and every person does

Anarchists continue to step up their game -- Portland, OR
"Yesterday the police killed another person. We don't know many details but we don't need to know more details to be seething over this (though frankly we will probably never be told the full account). We aren't going to wait to watch the police demonize another person that would still be alive if there were no cops.
Last night a few individuals tired of people being murdered, set out to break all the windows of the "community" police station at N Denver and N Killpatrick.
We hope by this only to send a message "as long as you are around, killing, beating and threatening people there will be people working to destroy you"
Cops that killed Chasse, Campell, Colins and many others still threaten our communities with weapons and badges. Nothing changes, a new chief, another death. Write all the childrens books that you want, we still see the dead piling up.
Nothing changes, except windows in police stations.

Toronto: Anarchists plan ‘militant’ protests at G20
It will be militant. It will be confrontational. And some things may be smashed.
In a rallying call that has its made its way onto numerous anti-capitalist websites, a group of Ontario anarchists is dropping clues of its plans to disrupt the G20 summit.
The Southern Ontario Anarchist Resistance (SOAR) plans to take part in the June 26 People First march — a popular public rally at London’s G20 summit in 2009 — before continuing down to the security fence to “confront the police state.”
“This action will be militant and confrontational, seeking to humiliate the security apparatus and make Toronto’s elites regret letting the dang G20 in here,” said the message, which first made rounds early last week.
The message promotes several protest events, including a roaming street party, and implores its members to support a variety of tactics.
“Respect for diversity of tactics also means not smashing things while we’re part of the labour child-friendly march, and remembering that although we might think certain tactics are pointless/annoying, we should not needlessly antagonize those people,” the posting reads.
It is unclear how large the group’s membership is. A message to a SOAR organizer wasn’t returned.
The G20’s Integrated Security Unit is keeping an eye on developing protests plans and officers have been in touch with several groups organizing different demonstrations, said ISU spokeswoman Meaghan Gray.
“We’re hoping that all protest action is peaceful and respectful, but we’re prepared for any eventuality,” said Gray.
While SOAR’s rhetoric brings to mind the 2001 Summit of the Americas in Quebec City or Seattle (1999) where demonstrations erupted in violence, Syed Hussan of the Toronto Community Mobilization Network says its wrong to assume the summer’s protests will be the same.
“That image, that was 10 years ago,” he said, adding some protesters may have more aggressive tactics than others, but any violence would come at the hands of police.
“The police are the ones with the Tasers. The police are the ones with the sonar cannons. It’s not us,” he said.
The Mobilization Network is connecting groups from across the continent to help coordinate protests of differing interests.

FC St Pauli the Football Club
FC St Pauli the Football Club beloved of radicals everywhere is 100 years old this month. As part of the celebrations a collection of former players and other “St Pauli All Stars” will be playing a friendly match against FC United of Manchester, The Red Rebels, and Republican’s favourites Celtic. A St Pauli statement said: “This game will be the highlight of the unique friendship between the sides.

Although the centenary happily coincides with their elevation to the 1st Bundesliga, the club is more know for the quality of it’s supporters than the quality of its football, widely recognized for its unique culture. It is the quintessential ‘Kult’ team and has support that spans continents.
Located in Hamburg’s traditionally working class dock area and close to the night life of the reeperbahn, the Millentor stadium would attract a few hundred or so supporters as befitting a lower division team. Then everything changed.
During the 1980s an alternative squatting scene emerged in the area, notable for its radical political nature and consequent battles with the police. They also adopted St Pauli as their club and soon the ranks of the handful of Dockers, prostitutes and other faithful were swelled with Anarchists, Punks, Bikers, anti-fascists and other politicized groups from the scene. Not only did they embrace the club but went about changing it and in a stroke of branding genius adopted the now iconic Skull and Crossbones as their logo. A game became an event. A Party.
A unique aura surrounds St Pauli…the games themselves have more of a party feel than a sporting event. As the team enters the field ACDC’s Hell’s bells blares through the PA. The famous singing stand erupts. A home goal is celebrated with a few “woo-hoos” to the sound of Blur’s Song 2! Indeed many bands are keen to associate themselves with the Club including Turbonegro, Sisters of Mercy, Bad Religion and London’s Asian Dub Foundation. The club can boast some 20 million “sympathisers” in Germany and about 200 registered fan clubs, many of them outside Germany. St. Pauli have close links with many other foreign clubs, enjoying a particularly close friendship with Celtic.
But it is the political aspects of the ‘Pirates of the League’ that impress most. In an era of football hooliganism used by fascists for recruiting and galvanizing, St Pauli became the first German team to ban right wing activity and presence in its stadium. The Club is staunchly progressive in anti-fascism, anti-racism anti-homophobia and anti-sexism. The club president Corny Littmann, long active in German theatre and head of the Schmidt Theatre on the Reeperbahn, is openly gay. It has the most female supporters in Germany and famously banned a chauvinistic advert from Maxim magazine in the Millentor. This approach on occasion leads to violent confrontations against clubs with right wing ultra support, notably Hansa Rostock and Hamburg SV (who have a ‘special relationship’ with Glasgow Rangers.)
The fans have always been central to the nature of the club. Having a say in such things as the stripe (camouflage one year), the official team photos (such as in front of Hamburg’s Main Prison) and having a direct relationship with the players.
But as the club celebrates the coming year in the top flight things are changing in St Pauli. The once forsaken area is undergoing gentrification (well captured in the film Empire St Pauli www.empire-stpauli.de) as Capital colonises and sterilised the culture. The Millentor itself is currently undergoing a total renovation (expanded seating, new amenities, etc), expected to be completed in 2013 and cost around 30 million euros.
Will St Pauli, always struggling for cash (bailed out in the past by donations from donations from the chairman’s theatreworld connections, charity friendlies with major clubs and T-Shirt appeals) be able to retain their integrity in the face of encroaching Capitalism? Club legend Holger Stanislawski, who has been a player, sports director vice-president and is now their coach, has told German newspapers…”St Pauli can’t afford to be a social utopia anymore.”
So if its ‘social utopian’ urge is neutered then what will be left of this unique and noble phenomenon? Certainly not it’s football.

Renata Zelazna Charged With Attempted Murder On A Policeman
Renata Zelazna is a Polish anarchist and vegan that has been studying and
living in Holland. She is also a friend of many of us here because she spent
some time living in Brighton, England. We received a letter from her recently
detailing what has happened to her. The notes I made from her letter are
below.
We are going to write a letter appeal about her, send out more info and what
she needs done but I just wanted to send this out to people now to let people
know details ASAP. We'll make it all shorter but the detail here shows how bad
she's been treated.
Obviously she needs some good legal advice fast and people are looking into
getting her an account for money donations. If there is anyone on this forum
who is more local to the Netherlands who knows useful
institutions/organisations for legal advice etc. please let us know.

Renata is Polish but has been living in Holland because she is studying there.
She had been on a holiday to Brighton and two days after returning had an
argument with some workers on a demolition site next door to her flat who had
been causing a nuisance ever since she moved in. She had complained about the
works next door many times, particularly about asbestos contamination and the
vibrations which had caused cracks to appear around the walls of her flat. She
was living in flat which was run by the Idealis who arrange student
accommodation, the building being demolished next door was also run by them.
After ignoring most of her complaints they eventually came to inspect the
cracks in her walls and said they would fix it. They never did and she spent
some time living in fear that the whole place would collapse on her head.
After driving back from Brighton she went straight into college for an exam
and then went home to see a new machine on the demolition site. A big sort of
sledge hammer or drill. There was a lot of noise and trembling and everything
in her flat shook. As all her previous complaints had been ignored she decided
to try something else. She went down to the work site and shouted at the
driver of the digger who didn't hear her because of the noise so she threw some mud
at the window. She tried to explain that these were student buildings, that the
builders were employed by the student Idealis and asked what were they doing
making this noise while students are trying to study for exams, why not the
previous week when there had been no classes and a lot of people were away.
The driver swung the arm of the machine around so that it almost hit her, which he
did on purpose. He then started digging again which made her loose her temper
so she threw a stone. Another builder then pushed her to the ground. She got
up and threw some more rubble and the operators said they were calling the
police. She said, “Good do that so I can complain about the nuisance”.
Renata went back home and a little while later there was a knock at her door.
She thought it was the builders who had come to cause more trouble, if she'd
thought it was the police she probably wouldn't have opened the door to her
flat. Preparing for an argument she opened the door and saw a big man in a
white shirt and thought he was the manager of the demolition site until she
saw a female police officer behind him and then noticed his badge. They said that
she was being arrested for destroying the machine. She couldn't believe they
were being serious, a few bits of rubble would have done nothing to such a big
machine. She explained that she was in the middle of cooking dinner and turned
around to deal with the food. The male police officer stepped in and took hold
of the wok, Renata took back the wok and tried to start cooking again and he
said “I will use violence”. He barged into her and she began to panic
because she had nowhere to escape. She grabbed the knife she had been using to
prepare her dinner and pointed it at him, trying to make him step back. She
did not try to stab him, she just wanted him to keep his hands off her, it was
survival instinct. He grabbed the hand with the knife and twisted it so that
it was pointed towards her abdomen and pushed her back almost causing her to fall
onto the blade. She was then pepper sprayed in the face.
They dragged her to the corridor and threw her onto her belly, hand cuffed her
and the male stood on her to prevent her from moving. Renata screamed and
neighbours came out but they were told to get back in. Then the female police
officer searched her flat without a warrant while she was held down. They
picked her up by the arms and trousers and carried her down the stairs head
first. They hesitated at the top of the stairs and she was so afraid at this
point she thought they would throw her down the stairs. In the squad car she
had to kneel on the floor with her arms handcuffed behind her back and head
between the seats. The male officer was behind her twisting the cuffs every
time she moved. She had trouble breathing because her head was pressed into
her chest and from the mucus and tears from the pepper spray. They shouted at her
not to spit. The male pulled her trousers down and she was just in her
knickers in front of him, exposed to him, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She was taken to a police station in Ede and told to stand up and walk inside.
The male pressed her feet against the car so that she couldn't stand up and
she lost a shoe trying to free her legs to stand up. They dragged her to a cell
being so brutal with the cuffs that she thought they would break her wrists.
She begged them to let her walk on her own but was ignored. In the cell they
took her trousers off completely and locked her up for two days. She had
bruising just above her pubic bone and had marks and a cut from the cuffs. She
was hardly given any water, none at all on the second day, and although she
told them she was vegan they kept throwing meat into her cell to torment her.
She pushed the meat back out the cell window when it was opened and they beat
her hands and pushed them back inside.
When Renata was arrested she was having her period, there was no toilet in her
cell and she was given no sanitary products. She had to go to the toilet on
her cell floor. When she asked for water they told her to “Fuck off”. As soon
as she was in the cell she asked to see a solicitor and asked for a woman. She
saw a female duty solicitor who was helpful and found her a support group for
vegans in prison. After two days in custody a judge came and she had a trial
through the cell window. Renata was sent to prison for attempted murder.
She was told to get dressed. She had taken her trousers and underwear off
because they were covered in blood from her period. She waited and no-one came
so she removed her blood stained clothes again and wrapped her self back in
the blanket. Then the cell door opened and a police man jumped on top of her. They
put a bag over her head nearly suffocating her, handcuffed her and put Velcro
tape around her legs. She thought at this point they would kill her. They
threw her into a car and started driving with the siren on. A male policeman said to
her, “You messed it up”. Renata asked if he was the policeman in her flat
which he said he was. She apologised to him and he took the bag off her head
and she saw it was not him. He said that if she promised to behave she could
walk into the prison. She said that she would so he took the tape off her
legs. Renata walked into the prison naked from the waste down and dripping with
blood.
She was put in a cell, this time with a toilet. They took her top and bra off
and gave her an awful dress, some water and Oxazepam (a benzodiazepine used
for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia and in the control of symptoms of
alcohol withdrawal). She was brought food the next day. She spent another 2 or 3 days
in isolation on suspicion of having tuberculosis because she was Polish. She
has not known anyone in Poland with TB and it's compulsory to get inoculations
for that, she still has the scars from it. She told them that X-rays cause
cancer and that she was very unhappy to have it done to her but she was forced
to have an X-ray of her chest to be allowed into the normal cells.
Now she is in the normal cells in pre-trial detention. She could get 6 years
upwards for attempted murder. She has missed her exams and lost her job. She
will now have to pay back her student grant and for the language course, both
were free if she kept attending, but she will now have to pay them back. There
are services to help people save their jobs and housing but since she is not
Dutch she does not qualify, although she was paying taxes in that country.
She had a very short court hearing recently for 15 minutes where she was not
told her sentence but told that she was a danger to the public and needed to
be locked up, that she caused a disturbance to public order.
Renata said in her letter, “He came into my home and threatened me with
violence. I picked up the knife without thinking about what I was doing. Do I
really deserve 6 years for trying to save my life? Is this justice? I received
a beating, I was starved, refused water, tormented, ridiculed, kept in
isolation, X-rayed and now locked up. When I am released I will have no
education, no where to go, I will be in debt, mentally disturbed and
physically destroyed. All because I wanted some peace and quiet in a flat I was paying a
lot of rent for. I have lost all hope, I look in the mirror and see death in
my eyes. I have lost weight. I'm just skin and bones. I don't know if I'm alive
any more”.

thought it was the police she probably wouldn't have opened the door to her
flat. Preparing for an argument she opened the door and saw a big man in a
white shirt and thought he was the manager of the demolition site until she
saw a female police officer behind him and then noticed his badge. They said that
she was being arrested for destroying the machine. She couldn't believe they
were being serious, a few bits of rubble would have done nothing to such a big
machine. She explained that she was in the middle of cooking dinner and turned
around to deal with the food. The male police officer stepped in and took hold
of the wok, Renata took back the wok and tried to start cooking again and he
said “I will use violence”. He barged into her and she began to panic
because she had nowhere to escape. She grabbed the knife she had been using to
prepare her dinner and pointed it at him, trying to make him step back. She
did not try to stab him, she just wanted him to keep his hands off her, it was
survival instinct. He grabbed the hand with the knife and twisted it so that
it was pointed towards her abdomen and pushed her back almost causing her to fall
onto the blade. She was then pepper sprayed in the face.
They dragged her to the corridor and threw her onto her belly, hand cuffed her
and the male stood on her to prevent her from moving. Renata screamed and
neighbours came out but they were told to get back in. Then the female police
officer searched her flat without a warrant while she was held down. They
picked her up by the arms and trousers and carried her down the stairs head
first. They hesitated at the top of the stairs and she was so afraid at this
point she thought they would throw her down the stairs. In the squad car she
had to kneel on the floor with her arms handcuffed behind her back and head
between the seats. The male officer was behind her twisting the cuffs every
time she moved. She had trouble breathing because her head was pressed into
her chest and from the mucus and tears from the pepper spray. They shouted at her
not to spit. The male pulled her trousers down and she was just in her
knickers in front of him, exposed to him, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She was taken to a police station in Ede and told to stand up and walk inside.
The male pressed her feet against the car so that she couldn't stand up and
she lost a shoe trying to free her legs to stand up. They dragged her to a cell
being so brutal with the cuffs that she thought they would break her wrists.
She begged them to let her walk on her own but was ignored. In the cell they
took her trousers off completely and locked her up for two days. She had
bruising just above her pubic bone and had marks and a cut from the cuffs. She
was hardly given any water, none at all on the second day, and although she
told them she was vegan they kept throwing meat into her cell to torment her.
She pushed the meat back out the cell window when it was opened and they beat
her hands and pushed them back inside.
When Renata was arrested she was having her period, there was no toilet in her
cell and she was given no sanitary products. She had to go to the toilet on
her cell floor. When she asked for water they told her to “Fuck off”. As soon
as she was in the cell she asked to see a solicitor and asked for a woman. She
saw a female duty solicitor who was helpful and found her a support group for
vegans in prison. After two days in custody a judge came and she had a trial
through the cell window. Renata was sent to prison for attempted murder.
She was told to get dressed. She had taken her trousers and underwear off
because they were covered in blood from her period. She waited and no-one came
so she removed her blood stained clothes again and wrapped her self back in
the blanket. Then the cell door opened and a police man jumped on top of her. They
put a bag over her head nearly suffocating her, handcuffed her and put Velcro
tape around her legs. She thought at this point they would kill her. They
threw her into a car and started driving with the siren on. A male policeman said to
her, “You messed it up”. Renata asked if he was the policeman in her flat
which he said he was. She apologised to him and he took the bag off her head
and she saw it was not him. He said that if she promised to behave she could
walk into the prison. She said that she would so he took the tape off her
legs. Renata walked into the prison naked from the waste down and dripping with
blood.
She was put in a cell, this time with a toilet. They took her top and bra off
and gave her an awful dress, some water and Oxazepam (a benzodiazepine used
for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia and in the control of symptoms of
alcohol withdrawal). She was brought food the next day. She spent another 2 or 3 days
in isolation on suspicion of having tuberculosis because she was Polish. She
has not known anyone in Poland with TB and it's compulsory to get inoculations
for that, she still has the scars from it. She told them that X-rays cause
cancer and that she was very unhappy to have it done to her but she was forced
to have an X-ray of her chest to be allowed into the normal cells.
Now she is in the normal cells in pre-trial detention. She could get 6 years
upwards for attempted murder. She has missed her exams and lost her job. She
will now have to pay back her student grant and for the language course, both
were free if she kept attending, but she will now have to pay them back. There
are services to help people save their jobs and housing but since she is not
Dutch she does not qualify, although she was paying taxes in that country.
She had a very short court hearing recently for 15 minutes where she was not
told her sentence but told that she was a danger to the public and needed to
be locked up, that she caused a disturbance to public order.
Renata said in her letter, “He came into my home and threatened me with
violence. I picked up the knife without thinking about what I was doing. Do I
really deserve 6 years for trying to save my life? Is this justice? I received
a beating, I was starved, refused water, tormented, ridiculed, kept in
isolation, X-rayed and now locked up. When I am released I will have no
education, no where to go, I will be in debt, mentally disturbed and
physically destroyed. All because I wanted some peace and quiet in a flat I was paying a
lot of rent for. I have lost all hope, I look in the mirror and see death in
my eyes. I have lost weight. I'm just skin and bones. I don't know if I'm alive
any more”.
US role behind Thai slaughter
AMERICA'S 'bloody hands' are being seen behind the massacre of anti-government protesters in Thailand.
Writes Shamus Cooke at PEJ News: "When the White House is quiet as protestors are butchered in the streets of Bangkok Thailand, suspicions are raised. Silence often equals complicacy.
"One can only imagine what the U.S.’ response would be to a Venezuelan government slaughter: the U.S. media and Obama would loudly condemn such an act, in contrast to the muted response to Thailand’s blood bath.
"The history of U.S.-Thailand relations explains why. During the Vietnam War, the U.S. used Thailand as one of the main 'anti-communist' bulwarks in an area that included China, Vietnam, Burma, and other countries that were challenging capitalism.
"Thailand was thus transformed into a U.S. client state and given money, guns, and U.S. government intelligence to battle Thailand’s 'communists'.
"This relationship has equaled numerous Thai dictatorships that have a very bloody history, including the shooting of untold numbers of protestors that the Thai government named 'communists', or their modern equivalent, 'terrorists'.

Thai army murders protesters
SEVERAL people are dead after Thai government troops opened fire on unarmed protesters in Bangkok on Friday.
A leading Redshirt rebel was also shot, probably fatally, by an army sniper.
Eye-witness Ben Doherty, reporting for The Guardian from Thailand, says:
"The centre of Bangkok is now a battleground, with rolling skirmishes being fought in the empty streets between the redshirts' compound, fortified with tyres and sharpened bamboo staves, and the hastily constructed sand-bagged and razor-wired positions of the troops.
In most places, the reds' camp and the troop position are a couple of hundred metres apart. The areas between, some of the most exclusive addresses in Bangkok, are almost deserted.
Shops have been closed and thousands of residents who live in central city apartments have fled.
Gunfire rings out on-and-off, mixed with the explosions of firecrackers and grenades being launched. Police helicopters fly overhead.
As the troops try to move in on the redshirts' encampment, more protesters, not necessarily redshirts but sympathetic to their cause and resentful of the government crackdown, are coming out onto the streets, attacking the soldiers from behind. They are throwing bricks, molotov cocktails and lumps of concrete.
Most of Bangkok's busiest roads, which would usually by jammed with traffic on a Friday afternoon, are deserted save for protestors and soldiers. Protesters are burning tyres, and, in some cases, seized army vehicles in the streets."

Mainstream media report that a “strong bomb” exploded approximately 200 meters away from the exterior wall of the prison of Korydallos in Athens tonight. Athens daily “Eleftherotypia” and “Alter” TV station received warning calls at approximately 21.50 GMT+2. About the atms in thessaloniki greece
In the early hours of wednesday 5th of may we decided to inaugurate the 24hour general strike by putting of use 71 ATMs in many areas of Thessaloniki (euosmos, centre, touba, ambelokipoi, pylaia, kalamaria, sukies). This action is just another small piece of the puzzle that is a part of the substantial oppossition to the calmness that exists in the functioning of society .
An action against the obvious section of the otherwise invisible, prosedure of money circulation.
An action that is easy for everyone to do (a little bit of quik dry glue and a few cards is enough to sabotage a few of these machines).
In a society such as this one, in which the relationships are described with consumerist terms, we try every moment to oppose the normality that is defined in our lives by the state, replacing this way the logic of abuse with the release of our destructive feelings. We chose to act on this day to show that for strikes to be an authentic threat to the state, a basic criteria is the interruption of production and with that, of consumtion, this way normality is blocked and the chance is given to everyone in the street to organize their resistance to those who stole their lives.
Because of the assimilation of the strikes and their transformation to another democratic right , this threat has turned into nothing more than a simple -and this only apparently- happy break from everyday life.

The Greek orthodox Parish Sainte-Marina attacked; the Oecumenic Patriarchy of Constantinopel, patriarch of Belgium. Red paint re-covered, and a slogan was left: „The state and the church kill and imprison.“
March 28th, Paris: Orthodoxe greek church doors are put in fire. The two ATMs and all windows of the BNP bank on Bretagne street are broken: this bank owns one of the biggest greek bank, Piraeus Bank. In the communiqué, one could read:
„Solidarity with all the hostages of the State (from the bread thief to the bomber). Good luck to all who are on the run. Let’s make deeper the crisis, here like anywhere else!“

Seven riot policemen suffered minor injuries in clashes with PAOK fans salonika on Sunday night following a match for the Super League playoffs. The supporters threw petrol bombs, rocks and bottles at the officers. Two of the policemen were hit by a car. No arrests were made.

Detentions at protest.
On May 12, a picket took place at the Greek embassy in Warsaw in solidarity with the social struggle in Greece. The picket was visited by a group of about 10 Greek people living in Poland. A banner was hung on the embassy. Also, the flags of Greece and the EU, which were on flagpoles in front of the building, were taken down and black flags put in their place.
After the picket, police came after a group of people sitting in the park. Six Greek activists and a Polish guy were arrested and are still being held. Police are still "investigating" the incident, but they are threatening to charge people with stealing the flag and with taking part in an illegal demonstration with the intent to commit a crime. Stealing the flag can face up to one year in prison.
The police have not been very cooperative in either giving information or letting a lawyer see the detainees. In relation to this, there was an emergency solidarity picket during the day in front of the "Police Palace". As a result, a spokesman came out and gave a little information and promised that somebody could at least receive information concerning the eventual release or continued detention of the comrades.
Tomorrow again we will try to send legal aid to the detained and maybe organize a bigger protest if they are not released. There may be a problem for foreigners detained in Poland as sometimes the police consider them a flight risk.

7 ARRESTS IN POLAND AFTER SOLIDARITY ACTION FOR GREECE
Yesterday 12/5/2010 twenty people gathered in a solidarity action at the greek embassy in warsaw poland. The put up banners and took down the greek and european flag replacing them with black ones. six greek and one polish student were arrested. They have been in warsaw police station since then. Noone can communicate with them. A lawyer of the black cross has gone there aswell.
In poland its illegal to have a protest with more than 15 people.
We dont know if they will keep them for 24 or 48 hours. They have given them no food or water. The cops want to press serious charges. None of the people arrested had anything to do with the flag action. They are going to charge them with stealing the flag [which does not exist] and for "participating in an illegal gathering with intent to commt a crime".

Athens: death of a (riot) dog.
A well known anarchist activist (of the canine kind), known as 'S@ns Papiers' , sadly passed away after dying of natural causes, following childbirth. She was founder of a group known as the Bl@ck Dogs, co-members were her puppies.
Early on Saturday the 8th of May, S@ns Papiers passed away, 2 months after a difficult pup-birth, aged six. She had 3 puppies, Petras, Luben and Giganta (Giant).
She first took to the streets early, in 2006, in Athens and elsewhere, as her mother grew and her human carer was attacked with flash-bangs and chemicals. In December 2008 she was with human comrades in the thick of the social-class struggle. On the 5th of May S@ns Papiers managed to reach the entrance of the parliament, placard in mouth!
S@ns Papiers was buried alongside her gran with honor, as and "enemy of the state".

She first took to the streets early, in 2006, in Athens and elsewhere, as her mother grew and her human carer was attacked with flash-bangs and chemicals. In December 2008 she was with human comrades in the thick of the social-class struggle. On the 5th of May S@ns Papiers managed to reach the entrance of the parliament, placard in mouth!
S@ns Papiers was buried alongside her gran with honor, as and "enemy of the state".

“Oh sky, your mirror image can be seen on the mud also”.
At first, we want to make it clear that our anger is indescribable, for the cowardly para-state gang who is responsible for murdering three people, two women, one pregnant on the fourth month, and a man who worked at Marfin bank at Stadiou Str., as well as for the gang of politicians and journalists who rushed to associate the fair uprising of hundreds of thousands of people in Athens and other cities with this atrocious murder.
But the truth cannot be erased. An angry river of protesters surrounded the Parliament and for hours and hours attempted to invade during a ferocious battle with the forces of repression.
This fact cannot be hidden or covered by tons of mud, which the panic-stricken state employees, gloomy party-directors of every colour and the ‘elite’ managers of ‘journalism’ try to throw. Even the video-feedback that they supposedly commented with their almost pale faces , is an irrefutable evidence of what actually happened for hours either on the stairs leading to the courtyard of the parliament, or in front of the Unknown Soldier, or at Amalias Ave. in the wider area of “Sintagma”.
Tens of thousands of protesters tried to break the ring of the repressive forces, while the entire demonstration not only applauded this effort but they also supported by not moving from the area which was full with tear gas. People of all ages with their face covered or not, rattled the atmosphere with the slogan ”Burn the parliament this bordello”, which was shouted just from the lips of anarchists some years ago. As for the anarchists, yes they were among all those who gave a thunderous message to local officials of the IMF and EU but also to their famous bosses.
Here is the Balkans, it’s not funny. The people still know how to struggle, to uprise, to revolt, to bleed in order to hold just a piece of hope for what they believe is fair. The neck of the dissidents in Greece has proven to be sensitive to state oppression, their recalcitrance feeds every insurgency, every social conflict.
International news agencies, once again, record an uprising in Greece in a crucial “moment” for the lords of the EU and beyond. They fear that this fiery message would, once again, pass the blaze to other grounds, which would gradually become a fire. The European south, which appears unable to “adapt”, is attempted to be put in the ‘gypsum’, to be disciplined in any way.
So, let’s welcome the new plans. Let us make them sure that the whip is not enough to make us passive and unable to lift our head. Let them have no doubt that the fairy tales and ideologies of ‘national survival’, ‘patriotism’, ‘national emergency’ and certain other stories have unraveled.
As far as we are concerned, we have not forgotten, not for a single moment, that we have every reason to stick the knife as deep as we can into the bone. To do everything to keep the wounds of the authoritarians open. The failure is all their own, we did not and will not ever have anything to share with those who suck the lives of people, who now deny to them even the crumbling they granted yesterday. As for those who waver, those who will be placed outside, because the fate that the system of domination and exploitation holds for them is now worse, we have nothing else to do but to welcome them.
Finally, we reiterate once again that the anarchist militants have nothing to do with any sort of miserable gang. They participate in social struggles, proposing first of all the ethics, their selflessness and abnegation. They do not intend to gain economic or other kind of profit. They don’t bear the flag “steal, break, grab”. They deplore and do not associate with anyone who wants to impose, in a revolutionary way or not. They explicitly disregard any kind of “medals”, claimed by supposedly “enlightened vanguards” and turn their back without a second thought to the “movement majorities”, who, however, seem so few and so small…
The 5th of May, will be surely recorded in the strongest way possible in the history of social struggles. We wish to believe that the painful fact of murdering three people will be the swan song of those who attempt to tie down social practices, promoting – from the position of an assignee – various para-state gangs, whatever disguise they have.
Of course, “don’t just wait for help from Gods, u have to move your hands yourself” …

Probation Offices Attacked in London (UK)
Forest Gate Community Service Office and Probation Offices were attacked by anarchist group “Black Fever Gang”. Spraypaint slogans and broken windows were the result. The action was dedicated to anarchist prisoners everywhere, especially those in Greece.“We are fighters!! Not murderers!! Long live anarchy!! Black Fever Gang!!”

In a society of deceit and hypocrisy, of backstabbing and betrayal; there where human relationships are molded on personal profit and exploitation, within the narrow limits of involuntary/obligatory choices, the scope of creating honest and sincere ties of social or political solidarity becomes constricted, suffocated. And if in many cases personal interest and vanity create a concrete mass in a common course between those in power, economic elites, political groups and other subgroups thus creating the illusion of a solid front, then in as many other cases it has been proven that when these same are confronted with pressuring and extremely negative conditions with the possibility of a total collapse approaching, the seeming powerful gluing element which created these cohesive bonds retreats in an instant, leaving behind a crowd of subhumans, each one looking to save themselves and not hesitating of handing over into the hands of the until lately common enemy their until recently political-social-economic partner.
For me now at my 32 years of age, with whatever experiences I have and whatever political consciousness and understanding I have developed, it is indisputable that since always one of the most precious and powerful weapons in the hands of people fighting against the world of the overlords, in expectance of a fair and free near future, was and will be solidarity. A solidarity which does not shrink in the face of repression but on the contrary unfolds decisively; which does not weep but attacks; which does not forget but honors with its memory.
And it is this solidarity I have tasted in the nearly 5 years I remain a captive of the state and that has to a great decree steeled me in all the difficult situations I have had to face and as an anarchist and as a prisoner. From the different events and demonstrations, the occupations of radio stations and the multitude of printed propaganda material to the arsonist and bombing actions against state and economic targets. From Greece to Spain, Germany, the UK to Argentina and Mexico the common ideas, values and visions have erected a web of solidarity under which I also have the joy of being.
To all those who have stood by me through all my years of imprisonment and who continue in whatever way they can to give me the strength and courage to stand proud against all kinds of state mechanisms, I feel that I owe a part of myself.
So I salute and would like to thank all those comrades who within the context of the local and international web of solidarity that is developing and strengthening continuously in the last years and that breaks through borders and boundaries, considered and deemed it is worth for them to risk even their own freedom in order to build an effective mound and a counterweight to the attacks and decisions taken against me by those in power.
Before the final rise of the sun that melts the darkness that embraces us all, the scattered fires emerging and shining more and more frequently from the most distant and unlikely places, illuminate the points and imperceptible routes drawn out by the universal rebellious conscience. My heart and soul cannot but be wholly with it.

Italy, Benevento - 'Do like in Greece'
It's the time of clandestine posters, here is another: "Do like in Greece... rebel". It also carries the classic symbol of anarchy. This is the poster that was present this morning in via Perasso in Benevento, then immediately removed by the forces of order. With the classic symbol of anarchy the authors of the poster were solicited rebellion in the streets as in Greece in the culmination of a devastating social conflict. Ferrara, Italy. On the nth beating by the cops
How long will we still accept without reacting?
On February 24 2010 four immigrant kids are arrested in the centre of Ferrara [northern Italy] and taken to the carabinieri station of Via Del Campo. There the cops attack the kids furiously: it looks like the usual story of police brutality hidden behind the walls of a prison, the darkness of a neighbourhood in the night or, as in this case, the conspiracy of silence inside a police station.
This time, however, the carabinieri carry out their aggression in front of the cameras installed in the premises, and they don’t even take care to conceal the infamy they are committing.
The images (which can be seen on www.innocentievasioni.net and on www.italiarazzismo.it) show a carabiniere hitting one of the harmless boys with a truncheon gripped upside down in order to cause more pain; another cop pins another boy down while jumping on his back, which reminds us of the murder of Federico Aldrovandi, beaten to death by four pigs in uniform in the same city of Ferrara in 2005. This beating, captured by the cops’ cameras, takes place while other cops watch passively.
The four kids are held in the carabinieri station for hours and eventually accused of resistance to public official, according to the style of these pigs who first beat you and then denounce you.
A trial against the four boys will be held on May 11.
The fact that this is not an isolated episode but one of an infinite series is proved not only by the press reports that sporadically relate the most disgusting cases of police violence, notably when someone is killed by the men in uniform, but also by the widespread arrogance displayed by the military when they patrol and control the territory and the cities of this country in an escalation of abuse, violence and intimidation addressed especially against migrants. The massive presence of police and soldiers in many Italian urban centres serves to get us accustomed to all this.
From Aldrovandi to Cucchi, from Lonzi to Uva [all of them killed by the Italian police and carabinieri], from Carlo Giuliani to the many who ‘committed suicide’ in prison, from the migrants who gulp down blades and pieces of glass in protest at their imprisonment to those who die while escaping anti-immigration raids, we wonder how many will have to die before rage flows from the heart of people and pushes them to make the only right and wise decision: to revolt openly and incessantly against the apparatus of institutionalised violence, against the fascist structures and men of this State murderer.
To all those who celebrate May Day in these times of crisis, we suggest to have a look at Greece so that you can understand how the cops are never on the side of people but they are there to defend the interests of capitalists, multinationals and banks. There is nothing to celebrate. Quite the opposite.

" They broke into the cathedral during the 11 o'clock mass : a group of young people with leaflets and megaphone protested against the detention centres for immigrants.
The reading of a passage from the New Testament was in course during the 11 o'clock mass in the cathedral, one of the most frequented of Modena. But at a certain moment a group of young people entered, megaphone in hand, and started to shout insults against Daniele Giovanardi and the La Misericordia association, that manage the detention centres of Modena and Bologna along with the police. "Giovanardi murderer" was one of the phrases thrown into the church, in front of all the dumbfounded worshippers who were present, and the stupor of the religious personnel. Then leaflets were thrown against the detention centres defined as concentration camps. In a few lines they said : "the confraternity of the Misericordia of Modena presided over by Daniele Giovanardi enriches itself on the backs of the imprisoned immigrants". And again : "Misericordia conceals behind its charitable facade a bloody business made of beatings, violence and abuse of power". (...). The group was rapidly chased from the cathedral, then dispersed in the streets of the town centre. A young girl was arrested by the police, she will be tried according to art. 405 of the penal code that condemns "the interruption of a religious service".
An anti-religion demonstration also took place in the centre of Lecce [southern Italy] on April 30, 2010 with an exhibition, leaflets, megaphone and discussions on sexuality, abortion, personal freedoms, obscurantism, and was broken up by riot cops.

Hereford anarchists make voices heard
ANARCHISTS made their voices heard during the general election in Hereford, England.
Reported the Hereford Times: "The singing and dancing has already begun at the general election count in Hereford.
"But the noise is coming from a group of anarchists protesting against the voting process.
"The group of around 20 have also shouted anti-fascist songs aimed at the British National Party candidate and his supporters who have just arrived at the Hereford Leisure Centre.
"The anarchist banners included the phrases 'voting changes nothing' and 'my grandparents did not vote for fascists, they shot them'.""The Hereford Times were told to go away in no uncertain terms when they approached the protesters for an interview."

Due to THE Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) not complying with the courts orders the trial date has changed.
The new date is:
7th June, 2010
The CPS failed to serve the defence with all 'seen' and 'unseen material by the agreed date which was some time back at the beginning of March - hence the date change.
